The 'ole DSM

A hand-me-down, but one hell of a hand-me-down

Replaced the steering rack which wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be. The biggest PITA was getting the sway bar out of there (stupid studs on the links were rusted to hell, so out came the Harbor Freight angle grinder LOL). Went ahead and replaced the links with a nice set of Moog links with zerk fittings and a feature on the back of the stud for me to get a wrench on (way better than the factory allen key + wrench setup). Got her aligned at a Firestone. Did a good job getting the car aligned, but the alignment tech broke my door handle :idontknow:

Also discovered that the fuel pump was probably going out, so order's in for another Wally 255. Didn't realize that I didn't do a rewire for the pump, so in the cart that went. While I was doing that, I finally caved and went to smaller injectors (1000cc on pump and a 16g is a bit too overkill with some terrible idle performance). Switching to 650cc injectors for some moderate power. Car's staying a fun daily/weekend street car so I'll take the increased performance at lower RPMs plus the better fuel economy (gas ain't cheap LOL).

Started smoking out the back like crazy, from idle to on boost. Turbo checked out, no axial play and a normal amount of radial play. Head gasket checked out, no bubbles coming from the cooling system and a combustion gas test didn't show anything. So my guess is the valve seals :\

Got the parts coming in, hopefully this weekend that gets done? Who knows. One of these days the thing'll be able to run (maybe).

Have you checked your PCV valve by chance? Does your crank case breather flow without restriction (i.e. no inline filter)? I'm not saying it's not your valve stem seals, but much easier to troubleshoot these first.

Whoops forgot to mention that... trust me that PCV valve was the first things I went for LOL. New valve and with a catch can inline from the valve cover to the intake. From the crank case to the valve cover is stock, which I believe doesn't have a filter but I'm not 100% sure
