The Official "What Should I Spend Money On?" Thread [Merged 10-6]

They were discussing the different ways of calibrating a GM maf using either a wbo2 or a map sensor. The map sensor is way easier to use to calibrate the GM maf. IMO, anybody with a GM maf should have a map sensor, but it is also possible to use a wbo2 to calibrate it.

Regardless of this, a wbo2 is critical for tuning. A map sensor is very handy but not *necessary*.

Gotcha. You guys lost me a bit when you went off to GM-maf-land.

OK, now that I have the car running strong I'm looking to hook things up on the outside a little bit. The paint is horrible, the rims are nasty and I have holes in my trunk from having no spoiler. I have the money to buy whatever I want but I only want to do one thing right now and keep the rest for the fuel system project I'm planning. Here are the choices:

A.Carbon Fiber Hood
OEM style

or
Vented/Evo

C.Carbon Fiber 2Gb Spoiler:

D.Something else not listed !

Check my picture albums to see the current look of the car and decide what you think would improve the outside the most !

OEM tails
OEM bumper
Fix spoiler holes (weld them up)

All for the price (or less) for any of the stuff you suggested.

As odd as it sounds I actually feel in love with this bumper. It has the soul of the 2gb but its just more agressive with a bigger lip, idk I just love the look of it. So it's looking like rims, but I still want more opinions ! Thanks for all the input so far everybody.

thanks man, i only payed $50 for it on classifieds, there is another 1 for sell on there

Ok I'm gonna order the 17x7's with some 215/45/17's. Im sure they will fit because I had a pair of chrome rims on it when I bought it and they were the same dimensions. Thanks for the input guys. Maybe in a few months I can go CF on the hood.

Okay i have $1000 to spend. I have a stage two clutch, a BOV and a upgraded fuel pump don't know which though forgot what the guy put before he sold it to me. and basically thats it. Question is I want a bigger inter cooler and a EVO 16G turbo. Though my only options are ebay. Is this a good inter cooler 95-99 Eclipse Talon 2G 4G63 Intercooler Piping Kit +BOV:eBay Motors (item 190309623852 end time May-31-09 12:45:00 PDT) and any EVO 16G turbo on ebay? Like unless theres another website I can get all my stuff, though ebay seems easier. Lets say I buy the ebay inter cooler and the ebay 16g turbo what should I need. Injectors?

Look at the Classifieds on here. You can find some great deals on used turbos and intercoolers. I wouldn't buy any turbo off ebay, its too big of a risk, yeah, some people got lucky. Why take the chance.

You can get a SSAC FMIC kit for $350

And you can find a nice rebuilt/used e316g for $300-500

J-pipe $20-50

SS oil feed line $50

that setup can be had for well under a $1000 if you just take a look around and research a little.

I don't see any exhaust in your profile. Get a 3" downpipe, cat/test pipe and cat-back for starters.
Be sure your maintenance is up to date and your car is healthy before modding

I would do what was previously mentioned and start with a nice 3" exhaust. I know megan racing is a decent brand to start with. Id also work on getting an autometer boost gauge and possibly wideband air/fuel ratio. If not wideband autometer sells decent narrowband air/fuel but not nearly as accurate. Keep checking craigslist as well you can get some steals once in awhile off there. Also possibly a short shifter to compliment that new clutch! Take your time purchasing those bigger items like intercoolers and turbo dont rush a dsm anyone on here can agree on that i believe. A new sidemount with some greddy hard piping can get the job done for a good while.

3'' turboback
some type of intake (depends on turbo setup)
1g bov
mbc
14b or 16g
boost gauge
