Well....tax time is coming around so i'll have some cash to throw down on the beast. Question is..what shall I get? Here's the things I was wondering about...tell me what ya think would do me the best

-Lightened flywheel(but my car's automatic)
-Port the 14B i bought and am getting installed
-Get an UICP
-Full Intake pipe

I wanted a Turbo XS RFL but everyone said its not worth it since I have an automatic. Any thoughts? Thx!

uicp with the rfl...your 1g bov is fine but if u want sound go for it.

and everyone said its not worth it cuz u have an auto?...well in every turbo car, the bov releases its air after u build up boost and let go of the gas, not when u just shift.

Having an atmospheric BOV with an A/T car causes a lot less probs with tuning because it doesn't open between shifts. Don't lighten the flywheel it'll screw it up ROYALLY! BOV and Hard piping is a good idea!

You've just bought an RS, you think you can make it fast, get that idea out of your head, it's unrealistic, and you'll kill yourself thinking about it. HOWEVER Eclipses can be made to look NICE, so here is what I suggest

1000 Dollars For Now

APEXi N1 Exhaust System (headturner) $500

HID Lights $40-60

Altezza Rear Lights $250

Gear Shift Knob + Pedals $80-100


After you get some money later, I suggest getting some badass wheels, that's what I plan to do. 17' OZ perhaps?

I'm sorry but xenon bulbs that you put in your headlights are not hid lights. H.I.D kits cost around 600 dollars. Save up another 1500 and turbo it, go on dsmtrader.com there are some kits on there.

Well I'm working on my 97 GS Eclipse and plan on doing A LOT in the next week or so. I blew the engine that was in there, so I plan on putting a low mileage rebuilt Tsi engine in there. That engine comes w/ no turbo so I need advice starting there.
What turbo should I buy?
What FMIC should I buy?
What Exhaust should I buy?

etc....

I have $8000 to spend right now and need to know what I should/should not know/buy for this conversion into a FWD turbo.

a TSI motor WILL NOT go in your car,i repeat WILL NOT. www.hahnracecraft.com makes a turbo kit for your motor,and with all that money you could put forged internals in there.

like posted above, hahn racecraft could hook you up with a pretty sweet setup for 8 g's... if you're not doing the work youself, I'd remember to figure installation cost too...

Shoot unless your Jonesin for a heartache I would dump that 8Gs into your VR4. You could have a sick setup with that thing. But if you have your heart set on a turbo N/A I would go with Hahn. You could get pretty close to a stage 3 or 4 with that kind of cash.

Instead of buying a new low milage motor, why not just rebuild your blown motor with strong internals and get close to a stage-3 kit?

i previously owned a SOHC laser and planed to do a 4g63t swap so i have been saving up and i have about $4000 but i recently went to fresno and was bored one day so i went to one of the many junkyards they have there and found a 1G turbo eclipse and they guy will sell it to me for about $1200 because he knowes my stepdad. anyways i plan on picking it up on sunday so what would u guys do if u have a stock 1G and $3000 to put into it

I would not recommend a dsm to anyone who does not have a DEEP love or passion for the car. If I had it to do over I would still get a dsm but the cars are very frustrating. Candela has gone a lot deeper into his dsm then I and I definitely feel his pain.
