Hello everyone, I'm the new guy or at least one of them. SO here's my story if your terribly bored and want to hear it. I'll try to make this as interesting as possible. Many many years ago I had a Gbody Oldsmobile I set up for drag racing. Had a lot of fun with the car but there was something missing, that turbo surge I loved so much from driving friends DSM's. So I bought a 88 Conquest. Did a whole bunch of work to it and it never ran right. So sad. Then I found a 89 conquest that had minor damage to the front end but was stock otherwise. It ran and drove great! but shortly after my grandma decided to sell the house and garage where I kept all my toys. So everything got sold. Then I got married and we had 2 kids and I have been driving an 89 horsepower VW diesel for the last 7 years. Terribly bored out of my mind I started to look into fixing up a talon. having found a 1g in town and called an old friend of mine for advice he responded by saying "why don't you just buy mine?" Your what I thought? He still had the blue 95 AWD talon in his back yard. I thought he sold this years ago. SO I boght it and we are putting it together piece by piece. He has almost all the parts and I am on a strict budget but so far folks on the board have been great help with advice and parts. I need a couple more small things and we can put the engine trans and transfer case together to put in the car. Then it's just bolt on stuff from there. Right now I have a Kaminari wing spoiler for sale to help fund the project and will probobly have some other stuff for sale to help finish the car and get it on the road. My goal is to have it done by the end of October and possibly replace the old VW. Glad to be on the board and have a healthy outlet. Gotta go, kids are screamin.

Nice story, welcome back. I can relate, I left the DSM scene for about 4 years or so in order to finish up college and not be tempted to blow money on car parts. Felt good to get back into it just over a year ago and this time around its not my DD which is a nice luxury to have. Might want to keep the VW ..IF...you can just encase something with the talon goes wrong, this way you always make it to work or to lug the family around town:)

Gluck man!

Here's some more info on the car. It's a blue 05 talon AWD. Was originally automatic, then converted to 5 speed. Original owner blew the engine (7 bolt) and it sat pretty much since. The car has 85k original miles on it. My buddy was going to make a monster engine for it after a successful 500 horse front drive eclipse.Biggest problem he had was traction big surprise. He ended up trading the eclipse for a hot rod mustang and the talon has been in the back yard. SO he sold it to me with all his parts. The new engine is a 6 bolt out of a 91 GST with a 97 head. The crank, rods, pistons cams etc. are all new and stock. The block is 0.020 over. I got a 5 speed trans and now just need to get the engine, trans, clutch and transfer case together. after that it's just bolt on stuff, turbo, intake, fuel etc. The car will be primarily stock with the exception of the exhaust, short shifter and coil overs. Everything else will be primarily rebuilt or new. Should be a fun car. I'll keep you all posted.

Nice project! I'ts fun piecing things together and making the car your own. I've been a turbo addict for 15 years! I always have multiple cars, but I can't go without a fun turbo car. SO addicting

Welcome back. When I get my drivers license my older brother is giving me his slower, original 90 laser rs turbo fwd. be there with you soon.

Cool man, I had an '87 turbo supra for my first car and my buddy in highschool had a gold 1G. We were the fastest cars in the lot ;)
