yeah i will admit im an idiot. i used a scrubber before on my passat to clean my headlights and it worked perfectly. but i wasnt sure if it was a brillo or some other scrubber. so i tried the brillo and it looked fine when it was wet, but after 5 seconds... it turned totally gray. you couldnt see much light neither. so heres one headlight with gray and the other clear. so i go to advanced and i said to the guy... im an idiot, can you help me out. he looks at me and said, oh that sucks. and giggles. so he brings me this box to clear your lenses. its a 5 minute treatement and what it does is, you attach it to your drill and it buffs out the scratches and fading and brings your light crystal clear. IT FREAKEN WORKED. now it looks glossy and crystal clear and all you have to do is buff it with this buffer and pour water in it and your all set to go. i did it to my foglights and reverse lights and i can see the bulbs and looks brand new. the best part was it was 10 bucks. anyone who wants to avoid sandpapering should try this method and ill post a pic later but if you can imagine completely gray with all scratches versus clear.... then you know what my day was like.
now the passat is next...:thumb:

First there are already write ups, that aren't hard at all explaining how to do this. Second, you don't post things like this in the regular forums. You make a write up to explain how to do something but you post it in the tech section, write ups preferrably need more detail, along with pics though.

yup...this is the bolt-on tech forum. As said though, add some pics, a few more details, and make yourself an article out of it :thumb:

Foggy headlights are the bane of a lot of DSMers existences. There are numerous methods and techniques out there that claim to work and none of them seem to be very user friendly. If this stuff really works like he says it does, then it could be the answer to a LOT of people's prayers.

It should really be in the interior/exterior/appearance forum, but we can get it moved later. For now, the important thing is to get pictures and the actual name of the product. Then, if I were the OP, I would put a bit of time into making a nice write-up showing how it's done and evaluating the product that could be submitted to the site. If I remember right, there's freebies available for write-ups on this forum.

I really think this was more of a "Hey! Look what I found, guys!" post. Just because there are other ways already out there to do something doesn't mean better ways aren't available.

well this is awesome i think, i had the same problem with my headlights b/c i wet sanded them and the rubbing compund didnt take them back to crystal clear like they were supposed to. now im going to an advance or maybe an autozone to see about this product. can you help us out here with maybe the brand of the product?

i went to autozone and picked up a kit (dont know if its the exact same one as above) but i worked on half my headlight for a full half hour and noticed a difference but not a huge difference. so today im gonna wetsand the other half with 1500 and 2000 grit and see whats gonna work better. ill probably also try working with that kit a lil more too.
