Hey guys,
so there is my question: I got 1990 Eclipse GS-T.
like 3 weeks ago i went to change my muffler tip, after that i took for a ride, push some gas for the sound, it was great, but after that something happens, when i were pressing gas i just hear the sound from bov (pshhhhh),thats it,and the car wont go nowere at all,i mean it goes, but not boosting, juust a little bit and my af gauge showing that im going lean. I had thet problem before, but then it was the flopper gate cracked inside O2 housing,i got it fixed, but now is different then before.I got 16G turbo, stock 450 Injectors, stock fuel pump, boost controler,Evo III exhaust manifold and K&N Air filter (it's mouted on MAF Sensor)
so what is my broblem????
Thanks alot

It's because you changed your muffler tip, dsm's hate rice they love meat. ROFL

No but seriously. Are you reading your boost numbers from you stock guage? If not, where is your aftermarket gauge tapped into? Are you venting with those mods? That's a no no, recirculate. Check your wastegate actuator. Leak test your intercooler piping/intercooler. www.vfaq.com for that. Need any more help or opinions, IM me on AIM, tsi93.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say you're idling a little rough too huh?
You've got a boost leak. Check your pipes ^^^^^ like they said.

Sounds like you might have just blown off an intercooler pipe or something like that. What you thought was the BOV may have actualy just been a pipe comming loose and loosing all the built up boost. Like previously mentioned, check all clamps and connections, run a boost leak test, and see what you find.

Ammm my wastegate actuator is good, all pipes and clamps are tight, got a little boost leak from the TB,everything seems fine,do i need to replace the plugs and wiress and do the compression test???!!

i forgot to post that i got aftermarket autometer boost gauge and i'm runing 14PSI with 16G turbo right now,and my freakin Air/fuel gauge whitch is connected to ecu is showing that i'm running reaaaaly leaaan, maybee something wrong with the fuel or air ystem????

stock pump & injectors likely can't push a B16g past like 9-10 psi without running wickedly lean. You need to get a logger on there pronto and see what you're really getting. I'm guessing that your knock count is wickedly high. Turn down the boost until you do some supporting mods for that turbo.

I drove the car like half year without a problem.a year ago i bougt s 16G turbo and put it in and it was realy good car pools realy strong.got new EVOIII exhoust manifold, new O2 sensor, but i think those things are not a problem.I tried to low boost like 7-9 and still same thing

What he is saying is that you should have not driven it with the big 16g at that amount of boost without supporting mods. Turning it down now will do no good cause whatever damage is already done. :dsm:

Good job answering my question.

Are you idling rough?
Do you have a CEL?
How do your plugs and wires look?
What kind of plugs do you have?

Okay. Get rid of the Bosch (sp?). NGK with Accel wires is the general consensus.

Your plugs will 'cause you to idle rough if they're not getting good spark. Your first step:
Change your plugs and wires. Also, check and make sure that your MAF sensor is connected fully. Pull the connector off and check the terminals (male and female) to make sure that it's not bent, burnt, broken, or that something is lodged in there. If they're extremely dirty, take an eraser to it and clean it off.

Post back with your results.

The plugs and wires are ok couse my cel didn't come up like it should when the plugs or wires are f***ed up,but when i took for a ride today.car wont go more then 4500 rpm's,when it hits 4500 rpm's it starting to do like s**t,i got realy bad boost from the start, acctually i can say that i got no boost at all, driving like regular car got like 70 HP right now,and evan i can't race with the waste vehicle :DD LOL :sosad:

yeap i'm idling realy rough,my plugs are not in good shape, when i bought the car like 1.5 years ago i didn't change them,i got Bosh high performance silicone wires

I'm done......

The samething happen to my car also, and it seem like you're leaking boost somewhere around your hose, try checking it, and check the clamps too. The hose my seem tight on the tb but when it is boosting, its not going to hold. Hope that help.

First of all, re-read this thread, then do some searching, and read about "supporting mods".

remove & inspect your plugs and wires. Just because the ECU has not thrown a code does NOT mean that there is not a problem. If the plugs and wires are less than satisfactory, replace them. I like NGK wires & plugs. They are very good quality and a reasonable price.

Once you're done with that, turn the boost down. A stock DSM's fuel system CAN NOT support 14psi on a 16g. Your problems stem from the fact that you're modding things out of order and not doing due dilligence. Loads o' extra boost, and no extra fuel means that you're going to have a wicked lean condition and start melting things (like spark plugs & pistons & other vital parts).
:nono:

Your shopping list should have:

Pocket logger device & software (MMCD is free, and works well enough, you just need a palm & cable at that point)

550 MINIMUM injectors. 650 would be a better choice for a 16g
Walbro 190, walbro 255hp if you plan on upgrading in the future. (or denso/supra, it doesn't matter).

The fact of the matter is, your injectors are at a massive duty cycle, and it's ridiculous. With 550cc injectors on an evo3 16g, if i try to push 20+psi (had an EBC problem for a while) i run between 96-102% duty cycle. Injectors over 90% = VERY VERY BAD. With 650's i could easily stay around 80% and not have any problems.

450's can't push enough for the 16g, so stop wasting your time. I had a friend in the exact same scenario as you- Stock pump, stock injectors, big16g (his was evo3 i think). He ran 8psi on it until he could do the fuel system because it didn't feel as "fast" but the car still ran when he was ready to upgrade.

So if i get 550's injectors, walboro 255 fuel pump and SAFC OR HKS VPC, then it's not gonna be any broblems with it??
Didn't you state that the plugs looked like crap? It would be wise to change them to the suggested items as stated per ddavisaf and slugs. Bosche (products) are great for an N/A vehicle but even then they are still crap and even worse on turbo'd vehicles.

Changing the injectors and pump still doesn't solve your plug/wires situation.
Reread this thread bud.

I think that i overboosted my eclipse, couse i was runing on stock parts like 16-17 Psi All the time, and why my car is runing like a crap ,i think that my fuel pump is melted could it be that kind of problem.i did the compresion test 2day,i thought it was bad,but my gauge showed me that i got 154 whitch is realy good

So you have a SMALL 16g turbo right? If so your 450's will be fine at 16psi with an upgraded pump on 93 octane according to RRE http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclfuel.htm ... Seeing as how you don't have an upgraded pump, and have been beating on the stocker for a year, it's probably nearly dead now from abuse. Thats why your car runs lean, and idles rough. Get a new fuel pump. (try a 190lph so you won't need an AFPR).
