I know nothing about the 420A motor. What are some specs on the 420A motor? How does the 420A compare to the 4G63? I don't know much about it but for some reason I feel like it's a piece of crap. Well not crap but not worth running. Or am I wrong. Eversince I got my turbo Talon, all I knew was the 4G63. I knew that the 4G63 was really powerful. I stopped messing with Hondas. After I became a DSMer, I checked out all the DSM dragsters and there was the 4G63. This motor will take you all the way. It's proven. No need to mess with vtec, vtec nos, vtec turbo, frankensteins, or which series D, B, K. One day I saw an Eclipse with this strange motor in it. It was the 420A. All the sudden there was this other side to the DSMs I never knew about. I figured it must be crap since I've never seen it before or even seen it used by dragsters. Then I started thinking. This must be why I hear people saying that they smoked an Eclipse with their lightly modded Honda. It must be that 420A motor making us look bad. I even hear people say they smoked a turbo Eclipse with their lightly modded Honda. What percentage of DSMs come with the 420A? Is it a Mitsubishi motor or American? I looks like a Neon motor or something.

same motor that is in the dohc neons with a reverse head, not a bad motor if you build it, but for the money invested the 4g63 will definatley take you farther. why do you ask?

Its simply the non-turbo 4g63 with less beefy internals, cams are different I think. A whole lot of stuff, I'm not a pro this is just what I picked up. You can turbocharge a 420a, but its not built for a turbo so it going to need better internals. It puts out 140 hp and 130 tq. Which is ALOT less compared to a 4g63 putting out about 205 to 210 stock. These engines were put in the Eclipse GS, and Talon ESi. Here's a whole load of info on em. 1995-1998 Eagle Talon Full Review - Consumer Guide Automotive

The non-turbo 4g63 is made by mitsubishi, and was seen in 89-94 dsms. The 420a was made by chrysler, and was seen in 95-99 non-turbo dsms. It is basically a neon motor with a reversed head, but is WAY different than the 4g63, and the motor is swapped around to the passengers side compared to being on the driver's side with a 4g63.

You can squeeze way more out of a stock bottom end in a 4g63 than you can with a 420a. I used to have a 420a, and comparing the two is like comparing a snail to a rocket.

heck yeah dude!! 4g63 all the way!:thumb::cool:
but 420a aint a bad motor like they all said ^^^ but u if ## thinkin about gettin some srious power out of a dsm.....the 4g63 is the way to go man. its just better internals than the 420a.:thumb:
