Temp guage broke

My temperature gauge broke so I was looking to buy an autometer one what would I need to get a water temperature guage, and if so what range in temps shoudl I get and what should my engine be at for degrees.

My Pocketlogger reading averages around 200 - 210 median Temps.

did it break or just stop working? if it just quit working, check where it connects electrically to the thermostat houing. Its a single wire that has a little connector on the end of it that slides right over a metal tab. did that make sense?

my temp gauge goes stright to HOT when I start the car...

then it goes to mid level..whats up with that?

YUP! I gotta Chilton's, Haynes, but i still wanna get my hands on the Mitsu Service Manual. But the Chilton's and Haynes have helped me more than I can even explain.

I'd guess a lagging thermostat that's popping open instead of easing as it should. Minor job, cheap, throw a new one at it.

And don't bother with those "fail-safe" gimmicks.

I have replaced it =\ twice...first with a fail safe and I still had the same problem...then is died...haha and then a regular one and still no change.
