Hey guys...

Here are some pics of my 96 GS finally lowered w/ Tein Basic coilovers! The install was a bi***, but hey Im 16 and still learning...I basically did everything myself. Im really happy with the way it looks and they ride AMAZING! Not harsh at all...handling has improved to much and also has minimized body roll. I may drop it a little more... i can barely stick 3 fingers inside the wheep gap...id like about 2. But for now Im satisfied!

here are the pics..

enjoy!
Brian

EDIT/ NEED HELP:
When I tried to lower it more, I started to lower the 2 spring seat things, losening the bottom one first, then spinning the top one to the desired height. The spring seats were lowered, but the car itself stayed the same height. How can I lower the car more? Am I doing something wrong?

DRIVER SIDE AFTER ATTEMPT TO LOWER:

Is this as low as these coilovers go? I tried putting it all the way down, and it didnt change much at all either.

I hate you, Just seeing those roads where the pavement turns to sand then to perfect grass and if you put your head on the road you can look for miles instead of running into a huge mountain of pine tress and woods and just crap. Im spending all summer in capemay...thats final. haha

Sweet looking car and if you want Ill give you my stock leather seats for yours :sneaky: Looks goodman, but if I lived there I would set it to 2 fingers as well. Although thats what im at now haha.

Looks good bro, Im'm actually in the process of installing mine and I'm having a hell of a time doing it. Approx. how long did it take you to finish the job?

Thanks for the comments guys!

I actually did it in my automotive class in school...I wanted to install them on a lift so id be easier for me.....one day for the front, one day for the rear, but a total of id say about 5 hours. We have a limited amount of time, since Im still in highschool.....the class periods are an hour and a half long...so i came in during lunch and after school...but sometimes the teachers dont wanna stay:rolleyes: ...but I lucked out.

You car is very nice and clean man.:thumb: The drop looks good and I would go for a 2 finger gap as well.

haha tell me about it, I have a final tomorrow at 11 then from there im going to a huge junk yard and grabbing a steering rack and pinion...inner and outer tie rod ends and also sway bar stabilizer links. If they dont have any worth buying im getting it from MitsubishiGraveyard.com...also like I said before ( I think it was to you ) get your rotors off and throw some anti sieze on there and possibly where your cv axles go into the hub.

Was it a special sale when you bought the coilovers. I just checked the hybrid connection site. They're asking $712 for the Tein type basic kit? How did you get it for 690 shipped? Your car looks great..nice clean and simple. Good job!

Your car is gourgeous, tight work man.I see you went to a so.fla dsm meet,I use to go to their meets all the time when i lived over there, too bad i never saw your car in person.congrats man.

I don't really like the slant exhaust, but the drop looks really good. I'm thinking of going with the TIEN Street series with EDFC.

I emailed them...asking how much id be to ship them to florida. He said that I could get them for $690 shipped. Tein makes companies state Tein's price on the website. The store can sell them for as much or as little as they want. It says $712, but its really $690.

Thanks for the comments guys

yEA, I DO HAVE 18'S But i have to be carefull LOL but i know my car now and know what speeds to go on dips and bumps, but yea man your ar looks nice.

if anything, maybe drop it 1/8" - 1/4" more and it will look perfect.
Not a bad car for someone that's 16. I had tein basics on my last car and loved them. I am rolling on some d2 suspension right now and they are amazing.
What are you going to do next?

My plans are to sell my car within a couple months and get a gst...hopefully i can find a gsx.

Hey I NEED HELP!

Today I jacked the car up, and went to lower it more. I started on the drivers side front coilover. I moved the two pieces that you set the right height with DOWN.....it didnt make a difference at all. I moved it up past where it was originally, and it went up more than it was. Makes sense. But the problem is, I lowered the it down more, thinking it would lower the car more... but its not lowering any more! its the exact height as the other side, but the drivers side is set lower, but its the same height as the other side! Is this as low as the Tein basics go? Or am I a complete idiot?

Thanks
Brian

complete stab in the dark.

maybe the springs need to settle in a bit?
Set the fronts the same height, at a setting that was lower than your original settings and go for d drive around the block a few times. Are they still higher or did they settle?
