What other turbos have the same inlet size of a 14b/16g and fit in a TD05H 7cm turbine housing? Something that offers a little more power than a 16g if possible. 18g? 19c? I am pretty sure the 20G is a 3" inlet and thats bigger than a 16g.

Its not the inlet size, but the compressor wheel size that you would be concerned about. The housings are matched to the wheel and would be machined to accomodate a larger wheel.

yes i know its a strange question but i still am looking for the inlet size .. especially a 18g inlet size. I am hoping its the same as a 16g. Reason being my 16g is going to die and i want all my parts to fit up to a new turbo. Im still doing the reasearch on turbos that compare to a 16g. Trying to find somthing with a tad more power but everything bolts up the same way. A hard intake pipe that fits a 16g wont for a 20g for example.

nevermind I called a vendor of the 18g on the phone and they said its the same inlet of the 16g and everything bolts up the same. So thats good news. Guess ill be getting one of those than. :thumb:

is the 18g better than the evo3 and flow more than it????
im planning to do a rebuild of a 14b and make it into a 18g
thats why im concerned

better? well basically an 18g will flow more air but slower spool than a 16g. think about a step between a 16g and 20g... there is the 18g heh

how much slower is the spool compared to an
evo?

actually the 18g is a TD05H and the 20g comes in TD05H or TDO6 (in fact most 20g's are TD05H) So, as long as its the TD05H .. which most are it will work.

Why limit yourself with compressor inlet diameter? You could always use an adapter coupler if you went to a larger compressor inlet turbo and then step up to the appropriate hard intake pipe when the money allows.

yes you have a point. Still undecided but I do know im going with either the 18g or 20g in the TD05H when my current turbo decides to die. I already have a nice housing so I would only need the rest of it.

That TD05H refers to the turbine wheel. He is concerned with the compressor housing. 14b/16g uses a td05h compressor housing, while the 18G and 20G uses a td06 comp. housing. Don't ask why mitsu named 2 separate parts the same, but they did.

ah yeah didnt notice he said compressor side.. though the 18g and 20g do fit in the TD05H turbine housing which makes it the same as the 14b/16g housing which means it will bolt right up. Though the "size" of the housing itself will vary. 14b is 6cm .. 16g is 7cm.. the one I have right now is about 7.5cm.

Your housing is 7cm. There is no .5 cm difference. Your portwork means nothing. The a/r is the area of the scroll divided by the radius. has nothing to do with the size of the hole where it mates to the manifold or o2 housing. Yes, if you had an 18G CHRA (comp. wheel, oiling section, tubine wheel) you could bolt it right up to a 6cm or 7cm turbine housing. But he is questioning the comp. side only. In this case, the 18G will not drop into a td05h comp. housing, not without some major machining. That's why they use a TD06 style comp. housing.

so when i bought my aftermarket turbine housing and they said it was between a 7cm2 and 8cm2 housing what does that mean? There are many 18g and 20g with a TD05H comp side as well as the TD06.
