Ok so long story short I picked up a 1990 GSX that was not running. I had no turbo knowledge at all at the time and believed the guy on what the turbo and such was. Now I think I have found what it is from this number (48178-01010) which seems to be a TD05H 14B turbo. The spare smaller turbo I have is smaller and is an evo III that what I'm pretty sure is the original. Little to no shaft play in either turbo so for now I will keep what I have. But that is my question, is it really a 14B? I need a new exhaust manifold because currently this one is old and been re-welded too many times. Its just time for a new one. I just want to make sure the new manifold meets up with the turbo properly.

Well, if its manual and the turbo is stock, if its auto and stock it'd be a 13G. 14b, 16g (and variants), 20g will all pretty much bolt up to the same manifold.

Is there any way you can post up a picture of the compressor housings/wheels from both turbos? This would make identifying them quick and easy for anyone on here.

Sorry haha 5 speed, and I have a pic of the big turbo, and I'll go look outside in my garage for the smaller turbo.

Ok so here are the pictures. Sorry it took so long. The first picture is all i have for the big turbo, the next is the small one

^This^ Dont put the second turbo on your car and expect it to last. Id take the 14b thats on it over a ebay 16g anyday

I agree. I bought my car with a ebay 16g 4000 miles ago and I'm waiting for it to croak.

If you run really low boost they seem to last a little longer but they all eventually blow prematurely it seems. And whats the fun in running low boost? :D

Thanks guys, this is a real eye opener. I was going to go for 15psi after I get my new cylinder head put on. But I still have a lot of maintenance work that needs to be done before I get there.

The 14b is a good turbo check the hotside for cracks rebuild it and your good for 15psi all day long. +1 on head gasket and studs (ARP)

In the classifieds.
This is a steal if you need a new hotside. Get some up close pictures tho un cracked 6cm housings are super rare.
