Does any one know if stock cast manifold can be tapped in the runner? I need to place air temp sensor as close to the cylinder as possible so I wanted to do it near head flange on the runner, just not sure if I can do it or should I find a bung and weld it in?

What is your reason for putting an IAT sensor that close? Are you going to speed density? If so, more people prefer to run their IAT sensor in the throttle body elbow to keep the intake manifold from heat soaking the sensor.

Yes you can drill and tap. I did this when I installed my AEM 5 bar in the back of my intake manifold.

I've been running speed density for a while with the sensor in the elbow but... it's been kind of a pain in the ass to tweak charge temp estimate table. Not sure about other ECU but Autronic requires to set up a table to estimate what the air temp is as it enters the cylinder. I was told if I place the sensor as close as possible then I wouldn't have to tweak the table too much to make the car run consistent in any weather.

That's in the back, not in the runner though :)

I'll wait a day or so, maybe some one with direct port nitrous will read this and be able to answer it. I just don't want to start drilling holes and find out the runner is too thin to tap enough threads.
