I painted the door to look how the tan / black should have come stock. The lighting makes it look uneven, but it's not. I ran out of the stuff I was using so I haven't done the passenger side. Let me know what you guys think.

Man let me tell u that looks HOT! I have the exact same tan door as you and I thought about adding some more black to it. I thought about just doing the speaker cover for starters but that looks really sharp! I think I might have to do that if you don't mind LOL

How did you do it?

That looks incredible, especially compared to all the clown car colors we see pictures of here!

Thanks for the compliments.

I used the G-2 paint that is on sale from Mach V here:
http://www.machv.com/instylsprayc.html

The process was easy. I was fixing my window (someone lifted themselves out of my car by the window causing it to misalign itself when it closed) and had the door apart. The armrest comes off and all I did was tape of th ridge that matches up to the dash and the rest of the plastic part (the plastic piece and the vinyl are melted together with pegs). The panel used a whole can and I'll probably go back to try and make it darker. All in all, both doors will probably use 3 cans.

Please tell me what paint you used and where you got the material to cover the armrest.

Thanks so much.

I think I misread your reply the first time. The GSX comes with the leather interior and the armrest is covered in vinyl like that from the factory.

cant say for sure...(maybe someone could do a quick photchop) but i think painting the speaker cover black yet would make it even better.

however, when the pic loaded, my eyes were shocked at how good it looks. so good work! :thumb:

I sueded my door around the same time, this is still unfinished but I hated it all black :barf:

Injected: Are you thinking about doing anything in the back seating area?

EDIT: And did you use flat black or gloss black?

I have the same interior and had always thought of doing something similar. I always figured no paint would stand up to rubbing my arm all over it, so I was going to wrap it in something black. Let us know in the future how it holds up.

I always wanted a nice aluminum coned speaker to tie everything together. Looks sweet man! :thumb:

Yeah, I thought about the speaker cover but I opted not to. I'm out of paint so I may paint the speakercover if I do, but probably not... we'll see.

I've been trying to think of unique ways to incorporate the theme in the back, but I may ditch the back seats completely...don't know yet.

I used flat.

Stapl3,
If the pics will upload... I just carried the upper black scheme that is on the dash to the door. IMHO this is how it should have come from the factory.

I have posted on here many times about how much I hate the stock Tan leather interior! Not only because Its in my car, but It's just flat and ugly. I do have to say that small amount of black made a huge difference. Looks good man! That is something I will have the guts to do. I just wish I could get the guts to do my whole interior black. Cause a full black leather interior is something I only dream of at the moment. Good job though! :thumb:

At first I wanted to go all black too. It's just so damn clean looking... and for me, there was far too much tan in the car and not enough black to balance it. If you notice I have a black pod A pillar. Eventually I want a majority of the interior to be black and the tan just to be accents. I will probably paint the pass. side pillar, door, and the trim that goes around the top of the doors to the dash. Eventually I'll get black aftermarket seats and black carpet and have the headliner redone in a black vinyl. I may ditch the back seats and paint the rear interior pieces but I still want a little of the tan for uniqueness and because if done right, it looks very sporty. I can always go all black later.
