Tan / Black Door Scheme

I originally wanted all black too. I mean... who doesnt? With silver accents. But the tan has really grown on me. The black and tan on red just reminds me of a ferarri or something. I wouldnt go all black now for anything. One day though, I would like a silver GSX on all black.

But I know what your saying about too much tan. It does need more black to offset the tan. I like what you have done so far.

looking good..

i use to have a 98 red gs-t..
it had tan CLOTH interior.. man that thing was hideous.. i wouldnt mind tan leather.. but the tan cloth is nasty.. it has those weird leapord print design on the seats and the door panels..

i now have that the stock 95 all grey leather on my X.. its alright and prefer it better than the tan cloth i had.. but its way too bland.. the stock black/grey woul satisfy me.. but the 99 all black would just be perfect..

I always figured no paint would stand up to rubbing my arm all over it, so I was going to wrap it in something black. Let us know in the future how it holds up.

From the MachV site for all that are worried about durability issues:
The paint is a permanent dye that colors any vinyl, PVC, or UPVC surface. It dries quickly and does not fade after exposure to ultraviolet light. The primer spray preps glossier surfaces to accept the dye.

:thumb:

I say go for it. If you planned on covering it you have to worry about sagging etc. and if the dye doesn't work for you (for whatever reason) you can cover it then.

that is very nice... can't wait to get my tan door panels (if ever) so i can fix them like that.

cant say for sure...(maybe someone could do a quick photchop) but i think painting the speaker cover black yet would make it even better.

however, when the pic loaded, my eyes were shocked at how good it looks. so good work! :thumb:

I painted the speaker cover on my tan/black door black and it looks 100% better. (i'll have to post a pic) i have that crappy cloth material on the door that i have to change. i love the door (original post) Awesome...

(the only thing is to paint the 'whole' speaker cover correctly (from every angle) you have to cut the melted part of the plastic pegs off the inside of the door and glue the pegs over when done)

Hey all, I just finished the passenger door and the B pillar to my interior. Sorry the doors are dusty, I haven't had time to clean them yet and I want to let them harden first. After all is said and done and I have completed over half of the custom interior I have to say that I am not completely satisfied with the product I used. If something scratches the interior too hard it exposes the tan underneath and the 'dye' seems to be more of a latex type paint that merely sits ontop of the vinyl. I would suggest using a different paint. The G-2 stuff I used does eventually harden and is very durable, but for awhile it is sensitive to scratching. Thanks for all of the compliments. Enjoy the pics and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

That looks HOT! I love it, but it kinda looks like the dash and the doors don't match now, maybe paint the dash with the same paint? It looks awesome though, not bashing or anything. Definitely a good mod :thumb:

Thats pretty much what I was afraid of. Well, I am pretty sure this summer I will be following you in a similar project. Prob. use cloth (mmmm suede) or something though. Good Times.

For some reason it's just in the pictures, maybe the flash? When I read your post I went out to my garage just to check again. Sometime the flash of my camera makes parts of it look funny/chalky or lights up the dust. It matches the dash very very well.

looks very nice... OEM, but modified... :thumb:

Thanks for the compliments. This is exactly the goal I have set for my car. I just want to have a GSX my way, like I would have built it from the factory. That's why I've spent the extra for the Defi D-Series guages and I don't plan on going too far with the power (~325AWHP maybe) and I'm trying not to sacrifice reliability as I upgrade (no monster turbo here, just something that spools nicely and can hold 20psi to redline and maybe a little further once I get a built engine). I wouldn't have done the interior work first, but I had the paint on-hand the first time and liked the way it looks so much while driving that I had to finish the passenger side. I really enjoy having a mostly black interior with tan accents. It's like telly699 said, very sporty in an exotic kind of way.

How about with black carpeting

Actually, I plan on doing black carpet, black vinyl headliner (not cloth), and I can't seem to find any "racing seats" that offer a black/tan combo (preferably black outside and tan in the center). Anyone seen something like this? May have to custom order some.

Feel free to steal it in any way. :D
