Talon Tsi AWD Restoration (Part 4)

Its been a while since I have worked in this car, but with the economy, parties, and girls.......things havent looked well for my project.

So the time came to put aside the money waste, and get back on track


Well, its time to start on stripping the interior

Since my hands were greasy, i didnt use my camera and used my phone instead.....so yea, the pics are crappy quality.


My first goal was to have a civilized interior while making this car streetable and track worthy......BUT......that is all about to change.

I decided to GUT the entire inside of the car, and go basically bare metal. All I want inside the car is gauges, steering wheel, driver seat, roll cage, and fuel cell.....and thats it


So here it goes:

Little preview of how the exterior is coming along......car is dirty, but the shine is spectacular when cleaned

You'll get tired of that if you DD the car. I had a few friends do that to their cars and they regret it now.

i would like the rear seat belt clips and the rear interior quarter panels for speaker cover, i really just need the mesh though, how we gonna work this? thanks!

Well, i have my Z for DD, but this car will only see street pavement 5 days out of the whole year.....I plan this as a "Track Only" car

My original plans was to make it streetable, but not anymore

Kinda, i will replace every suspension component with new ones, and every nut and bolt will be either sandblasted/ coated, or replaced

Basically make it better then "factory" without the civilized look

^^....it IS a restoration......if you go back to my first thread (Part 1) you can clearly see this car was a Junk Yard car.
It was first going to be a stock (restored car).....but I changed my mind, and now it will be a restored (drag car)

Everything will be restored to basically new.....except...that there will be no interior, and some things will look different then stock.

But its a restoration, in the sense that it was old and busted....and I will make it like a brand new car that left the dealer without an interior to make you feel comfy and without the wimpy 210HP

Man that car has came a long way... Forget the others, I remember seeing this blog a while ago and was like yeah like that thing will ever look decent...

Was I ever wrong, that thing looks great! What grit did you wet sand and what compounds did you buff with?

Great job so far! Wish my paint was like that .

Its comments like yours that give that extra boost to finish projects like these. I wish people would be more encouraging instead bashing for every single thing I change or do.


as for your question, I used 2000 grit and 3M Extra-Cut Rubbing Compound

Some of the people in this blog leaving comments are the only reason that I hate being a part of the dsm community, if anyone does any thing different then the next it is wrong.

People bash you for a different color valve cover, if your car is not lowered, if you paint your car a different color than stock, remove your interior....

The Honda and Vdub communities are much more welcoming of a persons creativity.

Build the car for you, not everyone else then you will be truly happy with it.

Keep on keeping on man and do your own thing.
