Talon-eclipse why change it?

I've heard people talking about trying to get there talon to look like an eclipse, why would anyone want to do this? IMO I think the talon is a very nice looking car and if you wanted a eclipse why wouldn't you just buy one?

Its stupid isn't it? I love the talon styling more so than the eclipse, more aggressive, but not ricy. i think they feel they have a cheap knockoff.

lets say for example you have a choice between a tsi awd talon or a 420a eclipse, you love the style of the eclipse but you dont want the car cause of lack of performance, and if there was a price difference say the eclipse is 4,000 and the talon is 2,200, might as well get a talon and give it that look that you wanted in the first place, these cars are on the same frame and platform, just think of it as a change of clothes for your car.

For that reason probably, thier the same thing, but not branded "mitsubishi". the general public has no idea of what a talon is, but an eclipse..well...

I did it on my old 95 talon simply to get the larger (once you trim a bit) opening for an FMIC. I also think overall the 97+ eclipse looks the best, but I am quite partial to 97+ talons too. Otherwise it's a hassle generally not worth doing

I love the 97 eclipse also that's why I'm looking for the front bumper to put on my car, I'm not to fond of the rear bumper though it just looks too big. Like your car has a fat ass.

If you look on Ebay, they make imitation Eclipse front bumpers. They are exactly the same except they lack the DSM symbol in the middle of it.

The best part of the rear bumper on the eclipse is it has a "big ass".

As for your original question, people want a certain make/model, but instead find an Eclipse or Talon in good condition and pick it up knowing the bumpers can be swapped for relatively cheap.

I own an eclipse already and wanted a 1st gen also, but could only find talons in good condition. So I bought a 90 talon and a 90 eclipse parts car. For me it's just about having a driveway full of eclipses

when it comes to the 90-94 the talon beats it in looks just has way better bumpers side skirts and wing.. the 2g is the only time people have a reason to do the change.. 2gb front bumper you can put the different lips and cut it for for your front mount and the eclipse 97 headlights look better.. the back is more dropped and backlights have more options, you can fit that new backlip that looks like a difuser.. you just get more options of things they make for the eclipse that they dont for the talon body.

Alot just like the more ''bubble'' look of the 2gB eclipse. Although the 97-98' style talon front bumper looks very agressive, Just very hard to find them.

I change all my talons' over to 97-99 eclipse bumpers/sides, They just seem to sell faster that way also.

the talon looks agressive but not as much as the 2gb eclipse. Its all about what you want. The only "bubble" part of the 2gb eclipse though is the rear bumper so i dont get where your coming from there

As for that color, It's the color that is on the titan-motorsports supra's you can google that for images and find it. It looks different, Under different lighting. I were either going to do it white, or that color so I figured I would do something different, And just do it that color. Only pain was that I had to do all the jams, ETC aswell .

Oh no way man! 2ga talons have a much nicer front bumper. Looks cleaner IMO.

2ga talons look like a clown...with the big ole smile, to the big ass eagle badge that looks like a nose...it just looks so stupid. At least, thats my reason for wanting to convert to 2gb

It's all in what your vantage point is looking at certain cars....Mine looks awesome from the front, and directly from the side.....But looking at it from the back it doesn't look good sometimes. And the rear looks fine IMO, it's just a way you look at a car, my eclipse is the same way. It looks better at some angles, worse at others. Also, the "emblem-less" bumper looks best on my Talon, and I love the way the side strakes and the rear spoiler (and a popped sunroof) make it look very agressive, ...fast sitting still. I get way more looks when I'm in my Talon as I do the Eclipse, and most people don't know the difference between the two. The Talon just looks evil

I've let a few of my friends take my car for a spin, and I love seeing it going down the road, and coming towards me from a distance. It looks so tiny, and harmless from a distance, being black adds to that affect. Awesome...

To be honest, I remember when I was a teen we all thought of the talon as a bootleg. However as adults we all know its the same damn car with differnt bumpers and badging. If you want a eclipse but can only find you can afford eagle talons, buy it head to the junk yard buy 200 or less of eclipse parts and bam the talons inner eclipse is released.

Well thats kinda what I was thinking, but the rear bumper of 2G eclipses look aggressive as all hell to me, so I wouldn't mind fitting one on a talon, but thats just too much work for me, I'm lazy, hah, although I agree with OP, I don't see why people would wanna change them, two seperate cars, although identical, still different. Keep the uniqueness of each one.

yah thats the same position im in right now........someones selling 97 gst with higher miles for 5.5k but i also found a 95 talon awd 80k miles for 4k i do like the look of the 2gb eclipse much better. so why not buy the talon for much cheaper AND its awd and do the conversion to make it look like the eclipse i like and still save some money??

i think it all comes down to what each person likes....some people like 2ga eclipse 2gb eclipse some like 2ga talons and 2gb talons

In my senior year of highschool, when I bought my talon (wow... has it been 6 years already?) all the idiot kids who thought they knew a lot about cars would say things like "duuude.... why did you get a talon? The eclipse is way faster and uses better parts.... real mitsubishi stuff not chrysler knockoffs!!"

Of course I knew they were just a bunch of douchebags who didn't know what they were talking about. BUT someone who didn't know better might think "wow... I should change over to an eclipse"

Personally, I like the 1g talons WAY better than the 1g eclipses, But it's all just personal preference
