Talon-eclipse why change it?

In my senior year of highschool, when I bought my talon (wow... has it been 6 years already?) all the idiot kids who thought they knew a lot about cars would say things like "duuude.... why did you get a talon? The eclipse is way faster and uses better parts.... real mitsubishi stuff not chrysler knockoffs!!"

Of course I knew they were just a bunch of douchebags who didn't know what they were talking about. BUT someone who didn't know better might think "wow... I should change over to an eclipse"

Personally, I like the 1g talons WAY better than the 1g eclipses, But it's all just personal preference

Same here but it was my end of softmoore year and my talon TSi looked the same as yours.. been 6 years too but evryone who would hear me coming (BOV TurboX'S) and knew I was spanking everyone at school they all wanted to convert their 1g eclipses into talons.. it was funny, not alot of kids knew what a talon was or what an older eclipse looked like unless they had one. so mostly everyone loved my car and thought the eagle was cool.. I remeber they told me my 1st gen looked like the batmobile and like the night rider (but in a good way).. The two tone stock paint job lowered on 17s with an evo3 motor was my 16th birthday present and still best present of my life so far and my first car..

I just purchased a 92 Talon and the former owner de-badged the "Talon" from the back and put Mitsu graphics on the sides of the car. Said he didn't want people to know it was an Eagle. Those that don't know anything about Talons will most likely mistake it for a Mitsu of some sort.

I love the 97 talons they look so sexy, they look best in black I think.

So why are the talons usually cheaper then the eclipse?

Simple: No one wants to buy a car that was sold by a company that no longer exists. It's ignorant, but simple to understand. In 5 years pontiacs and oldsmobiles will all be $500 cars.

Run me up the flagpole if you want, but I like the Talon the least. They ONLY look good in black. I tried so hard to find two good Lasers when I was car-shopping this year. They are so clean-looking. As a 1G guy, all that plastic crap stuck to the side of the vehicle is a HUGE liability on a 20-year-old car. It all starts to warp and peel-off, and generally look like butt. A 1G Talon CANNOT be converted to an Eclipse or Laser, unless you want to drive around with 30 5/16" hole all over the outside of your car where the trim clips used to pop into the side of the body. Certain years of 2G Talon do look like a clown to me, it's just over-styled. So, I guess if you're into that, then your lucky that Talons are cheaper. I'll just stick with my 1Gb Eclipses, and keep my eye out for a Laser ( or two!).

P.S.: The Laser looks the least fast/aggressive: Good! I don't need the Po-lice seeing me as some Paul Walker F&F wannabee. I'm all old and half-drunk all the time. I don't need no stinkin' aggressive lookin' car! Stealth all the way, baby.

I agree on the Laser looking the least aggressive/sporty. Thats why I did the 1gb Talon rear fascia, wing, and sideskirts. I like the bubble in the 1gb Talon rear bumper.

The Laser was way too plain. From the front it's good (sits a little high though) but the black stripe down the side and the flat ass had to go.

That's why I did the swap. Who wants their women to have a flat ass?

Nobody knows the difference. I've only had one kid ask me if it's a Talon. Then he saw my 2gb GS-T rims and was like "wait... what is it?" and had no idea what I was talking about when I told him it was a Laser. I confuse the hell out of people sometimes because if it's someone I know doesn't know much about cars and they ask me what I drive I'll tell them a 91 Eclipse, because they know what that is, just to avoid giving the whole speech about what DSM is. Then if I give them a ride they go "huh? Why's there a Plymouth emblem?"

I've done that conversion too when I was younger. But now I look at it different, If my car is a Talon its staying a Talon, and if its an Eclipse its staying an Eclipse. I have a 2GA Eclipse and made it into a 2GB why? I just like the looks a lot better but i dont hate the 2GA. I have a 96 Talon also, It was converter into an Eclipse but now its backto being a Talon. I think people should leave at least the rear end of the Talons since they are becoming so rare

ive had my 97 talon since july i like it better than the 2ga talons because the front bumper on them makes me laugh I definitly would never convert it because of the fact that there are a MILLION eclipses everywhere but ive only seen one talon in my area and i think its the 2ga so that still makes me special
