Seen this on craigslist I have a 91 5 speed but want auto :) what u think

I'm just wanting to sell or trade all stock but the head is ported and polished it has new valves a new head gaskets new exhaust gaskets it has 136k on it all original turbo needs seals and the head liner fabric is gone that's the only thing its awd it is a dohc call or looking to trade on guns or cash offers make an offer any offer will be considered I also have the stock wheels extra cams that will go with it for that price.

Said it won't stay running due to Turbo seals LOL I know better than that but wants 2200 bucks let me know what u would pay for it

Yea I was thinking that's probably a must just found out from my buddie that the guy bent the valves on the head but said he fixed it hmmm? I bet that's why it won't stay running with out holding the throttle open

Just sucks cause there is no way to tell is there unless I pull head right? He thinKS I don't know about these cars I know it will stay running with a bad Turbo he tried to tell me that's why it doesn't stay running LOL

Get it got it good.Auto's are my bullotproof vest to dsm's I love em just make sure low miles on the transmision and make sure it was taken care of.Everthing else looks good try get a low price.:thumb:

Well you dont have to pull the head to know there is something wrong with the valves. Simple test is a compression test. If you have really low numbers then the valves are not sealing all the way and you have to pull the head and fix that. However you can also pull the valve cover and check the valve train in there too. If you have to constantly give it throttle to keep it running tho, I would venture to think that the guy didnt put it back together right if he has already repaired the valves. The CAS could be off, timing could be off, I mean there is a large number of things that it COULD be. But only way to find out is to start testing things. Start with a compression test and a leak down test. Those two would tell you likely all you need to know about the head and rings. If your getting good numbers that are in spec I would be all over it. If not, I would not give em more than a grand for the car. Since your basically buying a rolling chassis at best then.

O OK sounds like a good idea I have a spare 6 bolt long block so hopefully this guy will realize he isn't gonna get that much if I have to put alot of work in it going to look at it again tomorrow or sat 10 100 dollar bills are tempting in front of someone know what I mean LOL

As for your goals of low 12's with the 16g and 880's? I dont see why you could not make that. I have a 91 TSi AWD and a 50trim and 680's and im aiming for mid to low 12's at about 20psi. Atleast thats my goal. Once the track opens up I will see how much more I need to do to make that goal possible. I am trying to not open my motor at all. No cams, nothing but external bolt on's for now and see what I can get. That includes NO ARP's for now. I plan to play until I lift the head and can justify to the wifey why I need to spend 2 grand on my head.... And if you had a turbo that was choking out the exhaust I would say its possible that it could stall the car, but unlikely. If you have another turbo, swap it out and see if that works.

Just read I'm probably gonna have to get a msd 2 step or a arc 2 because link won't 2 step it properly but I'm going to get the basics done see where I'm at then go for more. Since there is no e85 no where around me I'll most likely go with a Meth kit which is fine with me just trying to do it right this time I have always half a**ed stuff which alot of people have some time in there life

Im planning to run pump gas until I dip into the 11's. Only then am I going to start looking to E85. Why do u need a 2step with an auto? Do away with ABS and get yourself a line lock. Get a stall and come up on the stall. You have no need for a 2step with auto at all. I can add a 2step feature with my chip setup, but no need. Hell if you have a shot on the car, you can leave in 2nd and stall up higher with an auto. I proved that last year when I first got the car on a stock turbo. I would pull thru the brakes by 3200rpm in 1st, but if I set to 2nd, I would pull up on about 4200rpm and leave nice and hard. And that was just making little launch passes in the Dock area of my company. (No street racing and after hours when all my rigs were out and the gates were locked.) Im excited to see what my newest additions will net me come spring time. Since I bought it i have done a turbo, injectors, FMIC, AFPR, 255wally, and 2.5" pipes for the most part. Waiting for a few other goodies to be finished up, but those are still in development. Once all is said and done tho, im hoping to pull in a solid 12 sec pass come spring on pump gas. I have no intention on taking this motor any further than that. Im pretty much done doing anything to this one and plan to start my actual build on another motor come spring. Hoping to have that motor DONE by the following spring and in the car. That is to be a race built motor tho, and seldom see street time. Goals are 800-1000awhp and the best ET i can possibly get.
