On pump gas you're limited to lower pressure ratios due to the low detonation resistance of the fuel. With a bigger hotside pumping losses are minimal and airflow at lower boost levels will be much higher thus making more power on pump fuel.

Although removing the AWS is huge as far as weigh shedded 80+lbs with the rack and all the lines.

Even moreso, when this turbo gets tuned to where it wants to be, I'll be adding weight right back in with a 10-pt Cage. :)

Yes. Even though you are slowing spool, you are increasing the overall volumetric efficiency of the system. Upgrading cams also increase VE. Thus, a set of hot cams can give you great gains.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the AWS isn't even close to 80 lbs. I took mine out last week and the rack, lines, and rear pump are less than 35 lbs.
 
You didn't burst my bubble.

When the rear was removed I got 80 lbs off my car by doing other weight reduction methods at the same time.

I should have clarified that.

I already know racing gas is more resistant to knocking..... so you can running higher ignition for more power.

A bigger hotside increses VE similar to cams or a SMIM. It's not just about keeping the intake-to-exhaust pressure ratio in check. That means the engine will flow more air through it at any given boost pressure which is important on pump gas where you are octane limited.
