Well I hate to post such a noob set of questions but there does not seem to be much info on the t-28 so I am to ask you guys. I just bought a Garrett t-28, the one that looks like a ported t-25 and a slightly bigger intake wheel and has the adjustable WG actuator. I was wondering if I need any supporting fuel mods to run this at NO MORE than 16psi. I will have a fuel pump rewire by the time this gets put in and my car has everything that is in my profile but will still be on stock injectors at this point. In my custom chip I do have the stock boost gauge converted to a knock gauge so I can monitor it there, but getting a retune is not in the picture at this point, with dsmlink still in the distance.

My next question, for some one that is running this same turbo, what rpms are you reaching full boost and at what psi? Also please give some info with your response to either question, I read a bunch of t-28 threads that had a lot of ambiguous information.

Thanks you for you help.:thumb:

Should be fine with switchin turbo anytime you up the boost past what it is set factory adjustments must be made.I would atleast get a big fuel pump to help out.

Yeah I have an eprom ecu but nothing really to tune at this point just had a chip made for the time being to get by until I get the link.

I also have a big FMIC, I think it's 32" across by 18" down and has a 3" core, would this be over kill for the t-28 set up I have at 16psi?

Get a datalogger and monitor injector duty cycles and knock at least. I know you said you have your boost gauge converted to monitor knock, but that can't be as accurate as taking a log and reviewing it. I wouldn't even touch a boost controller without those. A wideband would also be a really useful thing to get for monitoring your engine as well. I would just leave the boost level at the factory setting until you get supporting mods. Some say you're fine to run a few pounds over factory, some say it's ok to run 17-18psi... I think the cost of a new engine or a rebuild of mine isn't worth a few more pounds of boost.

Burned chip, EPROM ECU, FIC 550s, Walbro 255 rewired with aero motive AFPR. Works very well. I run a HAHN Racecraft SMIC. Your FMIC will work. A bit overkill but will work. Might notice increased lag. My Wally 255 & Aeromotive is overkill for this turbo but it's intended for my next turbo. You might be able to get away with 190 with no AFPR. I wanted to see what my fuel pressure was.
My chip was from Keydriver. I was told that the same burn is used for FP big t28 as your T28 as EVO 3 16G. That's straight from the mouth of the owner of Keydriver. Which isn't around anymore.
Still get dsmlink. You'll never get as good of a tune from a burned chip as you will from an actual tune. Burned chip will get you by.
