Just to set the record straight, the automatic belt itself works fine. However, what happened about two hours ago has happened several times since I've owned the car and it kinda hurts. when you get out of the car in somewhat of a rush, and forget to take the shoulder belt down from the a-pillar / roof area, and you start to stand up and the damn thing nearly stabs you in the kidneys.
I'm wondering if I'm the only one, I mean I'm not a little guy, and there are a lot of not little guys running around and this is not a big car.
thinking it shouldn't be too hard to replace it with a normal run of mill seat belt like on almost every other car. and wondering if anyone here has done that. might just put in a harness... don't know.
-yes I'm aware I'd have to put in a harness bar, and know that a harness that is bolted to the floor can compress a spine in an accident. - I'm thinking someone is thinking that.

Yeah, I hate legal mumbo-jumbo myself. Well best of luck with it, you can post a WTB add in the classifieds soon (only need 30 tech post total and a 1day wait) since there are quite a few Canadian members I'm sure one of them has a set or a car being parted out if you need the parts.
