i recently acquired:
3- 10" MTX 6000 250 rms 500 peak
1- Eclipse 33230
310W x 2 Channel Max. Power Output at 2 ohms
200W x 2 Channel 0.1% THD at 2 ohms Stereo, 20,000Hz at 13.8V
130W x 2 Channel 0.1% THD at 4 ohms Stereo, 20-20,000Hz at 13.8V

OK,
question one: is the eclipse amp powerfull enough for those subs?
question two: if it is powerfull enough which setting do i want and what is the difference between 2 and 4 ohms?
question three: Does anyone have a suggestion as the best point to drill through the firewall for the amp wire? Or even a picture of the firewall or something would be helpfull.

Thanks for all the help guys and sorry for my electronic ignorance,
Matt

a ohm rating for the subs would help -
a 2ohm load is harder on a amp. (unless its 2 ohm stable)
2 4ohm subs wired in series = 2 ohm load. (from what i remember ive been out of the car audio game for a while )
run the amp wire thru the boot that goes around the steering shaft.

well first off it will pump the subs just not really hard although there only tens so theyl;l mostly be mid anyway. but as for the ohms setting 2 ohms is becoming more standard for car stereo and i personally dont like it becuase ohms are resistance so with less ohms more distortion gets throuhg but with less power gets thoruhg easier so from 4 to 2 ohms the power doubles (ie 200 watts at 4ohm = 400 at 2 ohms) it all depends on which you wnat id say try both and whichever you like better. as for the firewall im sorry i cant help you there ill be doing it myself for the first time with these cars soon hope this helps :talon:

oh ya sorry i forgot that THD stuff stands for total harmonic distortion .1% isnt bad but most of the stuff i have is .05 which is crystal clear but anyway just ignore that if it doesnt change betweem settings

where is the best place to go through the firewall? the steering boot option sounds good but i cant find the other side in the engine bay. sorry for all this
thanks guys,
matt

What i did is i ran the power wire from the battery down underneath the car. Use some of that plastic wire rap to help shield it from any heat. I ran mine next to the brake lines and zip tied it like every 6 inches. Then i came up underneath the rear seats where the fuel pump is.

Make sure you watch where the wire is so its not going to hit the front CV shaft or any moving parts. Try to get it to fallow the brake lines the whole way down.

This setup works great for me and i have done this on about 3 AWD DSM's and never had a problem.

That's a good option but I would consider trying to get to the other side of the firewall steering boot and run through there, that's definately the best choice in my opinion.

Not dissing the above post I just like keeping all wires that I possibly can that harness power inside of the car.

:)

Ya i have 0 gauge ran in my car. I just drilled a whole threw the fire wall and ran it under carpet. Cant even tell. System looks good though!!!
