This is probably the stupidest question on this board, but how the hell do you remove the fuses that are attached to the battery? ie: MPI fuse, etc. They are a square with a clear top and a metal arch. I've tried pulling the f*ck out of it, screwdriver....doesn't come up. I even went as far as to drive to my dads house and ask him...he said he's never seen a fuse like that (he's an xray technician, 20 years in the military specializing in electronics, and yet he doesn't even know...) so now I come to the gurus.

You've got the right idea. Pull and wiggle the heck out of it. It should pull straight up and out like you were probably doing already. Sometimes they are just very stubborn. Basically they can be a pain in the ass. Spray a little lube around where they plug in and keep trying. Just be careful cause you can break the plastic. Good luck!

Thanks...I didn't see a screw so I knew it wasn't bolted in, but the damn thing won't budge. Ill keep trying.

Imagine you're a doctor pulling a tooth. Put your foot on the fender and just yank that mofo.

Yea too bad I've almost tried that. I have a really short fuse (referring to my temper) and I got so pissed once I was cussing up and down, my neighbor came over and asked if something was wrong and I blew up on him. Needless to say he avoids me at all costs these days. I resorted to pliers before as well and its one stubborn sob!

You sure it doesn't have a twist type knob that goes through the fuse holder? I know mine do.

What do you mean twist type knob? The fuses are like blue and pink and square....they have a clear lid/top and you can see the metal arch in the middle of it.

What you push the fuse into, the actual holder of the fuse. On one side there will probably be a tiny twist type "screw" that sometimes screws in completely flush so that you might not be able to see it at first. Unscrew this, and you should be able to pull it out.

haha best analogy for this... but yeah just wiggle it around and tug on it... it will come out...a little lube or something may help also. :thumb:

Clean the terminals once you do get it out. If it's that hard to get out, the terminals have probably corroded.

dosnt surprise me, i went to a tech school and now im building atmospheric nitrogen separators, intricate machinery only uses glass fuses and the occasional circuit breaker, and as for your fuse soak it in silicon lube and let it soak it should loosen it up and help to remove the corrosion

Exactly...what's so hard to believe about not seeing a fuse like that? Never said he was a mechanic. Ill try sprayed some type of lubricant in there and see if the damn thing will come loose. Thanks for the tip :thumb:
