I have two eclipse one of which I am currently having problems with. The car is a 97 gst. Little history. I had to replay the clutch and transmission due to the pressure plate breaking and puting a hole in the front have of the case. It was causing the clutch to slip and did not seem to have any syncronizers. Before I replaced both the clutch and tranny the cars long block ran perfect. The car only has about 76000 on it and as soon as it was started after changing the tranny it ran like crap. It is fowling out plugs left and right. Under high boost it seems to calm down but at low rpms it dosen't idle surge just idles under 500. I have check all the sensor except for the knock positioning censor and have changed out coilpacks and idle positioning censor. I have done a boost leak test and it doesn't seem to be leaking anywhere. I have tried switching the MAF from my 95 awd and even the computer. (Is the computer the same in these cars?) Other than that the most recent thing that I have tried was to disconnect the down pipe from the cat thinking maybe the car was unable to breathe. If anyone has any suggestion I would apprecitate them. O'yeah changed out the plug wires too. One more thing is the car is mechnially stock now and was before the transmission change. Thanks
Eric

I have not really checked for exhast leaks but I did disconnect the cat if I had not already meantioned that thinking the car was sufficating itself.

is it still on the stock fuel filter, if so might try that. its only like 17 bucks so it cant hurt.

I will think it is still on the stock fuel filter, I haven't ever changed it anyways. I guess I will try that.

1st. is your blow off valve recirculated? if not that will give you problems and mine did that and i had to clean my iac. i also did a egr delete and the plate came loose. that made me idle right around 500 rpms and if you do have a egr valve the check the hoses. iv herd of those things going bad all the time.
