Hey, I want to kill off my rod antenna and stick a stubby one on the roof, behind my sunroof. Do I just reroute my antenna wire to there, find a stubby antenna, wire it up, and screw it in place? Would that even work?

Thanks, Tim Klein

Im pretty good at keeping stuff from not looking like shit :) I found a completely hidden autoloc amplified antenna kit, I may get that.

Sadly enough, my DSM may be leaving me. It was 100 a month for insurance, and now that I totalled a car and received a 25 over speed ticket, it is now $220 a month. Im looking at a 95 Neon with the DOHC (420A I think) and 5 spd transmission (isnt it funny that its faster than my DSM?)

Anyone know any good Neon forums?

I hope I can keep the DSM though...

ouch. dont do that to yourself.

Well, you know what I meant to say. I know it doesnt sound right, but hey, it works (sorta).

I dunno, the neon has 1 more cam than mine and there alot more mods for the neon than my 92 horsepower street warrior, LOL. I dont really want another DSM because my insurance would still be killer.

$400 <---- Gross income per month

-150 <---- Car payment

-220 <---- High ass insurance

=$30 <--- What my poor ass has for gas for a month, LOL.

My budget doesnt exactly work....

Hmm... so you want to buy another car that has lots of mods so you can make it faster?

How about addressing the source of the problem and work on your driving record?

With a modded Neon, you're just going to end right back on square one. Heck, the neon doesn't even need to be modded. If you drive like a nut you can probably get a ticket driving a base model 3 cylinder Geo Metro.

damn..i didnt kno u were drivin a 1.8....id stick with that. 92 hp is gonna get u in a lot less trouble that 130 or whatever the neons are.

My driving is fine, its when im the third person back and some nut (Civic) stops in the middle of the road because he missed the mall entrance. The girl (Lexus RX300) in front of me stayed stopped in the intersection and my moms car (Corolla) skidded intor hers, which was already plowed into the back of the guy in front of her. As for the speeding ticket I forgot to register for my SAT and I was trying to get home before midnight so I wouldnt have to pay a late fee.

I only have 2 points for the speeding ticket (reduced for good behavior), and the ticket for the accident was judicially dismissed for going to Greenville Technical Charter High School and good behavior (I get college credit for my high school classes).

I did get a 1080 though and im taking it again in June. Im shooting for a 1100 so I can get my life scholarship.

Im kinda wanting the neon because there are things that you can actually do to the SOHC version (I was mistaken, the guy said it was a DOHC) that can make it fast. DSM SOHCs suck hairy balls in the speed department. Ive heard they will run forever though.

:dsm: im not tryin to discourage you at all..but there is no way in hell id drive a peon neon over a dsm..even if it is the 1.8 SOHC. at least you could have dreams of putting 4g63 in it, and at least it doesnt look like a chick should be driving it.

wow - i wish i could only pay 220 for insurance.. i was payin' 550 a month for a while

Thats exactly it, a dream of putting a 4G63 in it. I figure that swap would run about $700-800 and for that much I could already have a SOHC neon that puts out 10 more HP than what Id get with a 4G63 swap. Plus Id have something different for a change, a fast Neon, hell half the idiots I see wanna know where I got the taillights for my Saturn....

(If you need help getting the Saturn part, please email me at [email protected] so I can help you get it, LOL)

Well, today I called the insurance company because they were trying to charge me some stupid $600 fee for processing and service (dont ask, because I dont know what their problem was either..) So they decide to let bygones be bygones and start over. So I give them the VIN number and geuss what, it didnt match the one they had. The one they had was for a 93 GSX, not a shitty 93 SOHC-mobile. So now my insurance is at $120 per month. I am beginning to hate cars and the hassle that goes with them. I still think I might sell it though. Its too slow.

BTW- Horrace Mann is my insurance company.

Revised Budget:

$400 <---- Gross income per month

-150 <---- Car payment

-120 <---- Not really high ass insurance

=$130 <--- I can live with this for gas.

Now you can keep your DSM and not drive a girly car. Besides you will save money this way by not having to pay for title fees or registration. All the more money to go towards a 4g63 swap, and when/ if you do swap you will still be paying that 120 insurance cause they wont have a clue about what you have in it.(atleast most insurance companies dont have a clue)
