So, I am getting a 92 galant vr4. Previous owner blew the motor. He did a lot of nice suspension mods, but seems like he strapped on an ebay 16g with no other supporting mods. Anyway, I've owned a few awd dsms, but never a galant. Always 2gs too. Anyway, those I did not mod a ton, but enjoyed them. This one I plan to keep a while and was hoping to put together a low 12 second car, but that is very streetable. I want my wife to be able to drive it and I don't want a clutch that breaks my neck every time I drive away from a stop light.

Anyway, I've been thinking a lot of things through, but I just wanted to open this up for some suggestions. I'd need to make more power than an eclipse due to the extra weight. I know that the clutch is a big deal to me because I want it to be able to handle the power, but also be comfortable to drive around town. I also don't want a ton of turbo lag. I didn't mention above that I did get a new 6 bolt motor to go in the galant. It only had 60k on it, so I am going to replace some gaskets, but leave most of the internals alone for now. Anyway, suggestions?

My Galant ran 12.4 @ 112mph up here in the clouds on a evo316g and e85. Its for sale btw. I replaced it with an fp red hta and will be shooting for a 10.99 @ 130 mph

What do you guys think, I was just reading on another current thread about a guy wanting 300hp on his DD (similar to me) and the last poster said not to do a BSE. Since I have a motor on a stand, I was considering it, but again, I don't know if I want the vibrations at idle. Problem is that I've never been in a car with a BSE so I don't know if it'd be that bad or not. (I don't assume it is horrible, but little rattles and shakes get annoying after a while.)

Pssh shakes? Ya like nothing if anything just bump up your idle a little if you have like motor mounts or balance shaft delete will usually get rid of it. I have balance shaft delete I don't notice anything. Just do it and get it done.

How about clutch recommendations? I only have bought one performance clutch and the one I got I didn't like the feel of it. It grabbed like all or nothing. Hard for nice smooth takeoffs. It obviously held power, but I also think it was thinner than a stock clutch which made it so the clutch didn't grab until the very top of the pedal range... Maybe it was just that one...

I cant really chime in TO much, as I just got back into DSMs. But I have a Galant with a Big 16G, 550CC, Wally 250, FMIC, Turbo back and mild SAFC tune and Ive ran right next to two cars on the highway that run high 12s, low 13s. Im at 20PSI and dailying the car.

Now granted I know highway rolls are alot different, but im sure with a better tune, tires and E85 you can get there pretty easy.

It's not even noticeable. You get a slight vibration, but nothing big, unless you have poly mounts, those will amplify every vibration the engine puts out

I have a spec 2 clutch I think it holds up to 400hp and 360 torque. It grabs when I want to pull hard and shifts smooth when I want to cruise. As long as you don't get a really high clamping force but in your hp range it will be good to your liking.
