hey guys.. i was driving home from school tonight when i felt this strange vibration.. it vibrated more as the rpm's went up... so i skimpered off to the side of the road, where i popped the hood while running, and low and behold, i hear this strange clanking noise... i immediatly shut the engine off and tried to check it out... nothing... started it back up again, and the same stuff happened....i dont know what it is... it started after i pulled out of wawa parking lot i think.. .. i lost my wallet, and just found it out, so i was kinda mad, and jerked it out of the spot in reverse.... got on the bypass, and it started vibrating....

now im home, and took off the valvecover, and i dont see anything noticeably wrong.... it may be coming from deeper than that... i checked the oil level and thats fine... any suggestions??

edit: i forgot to mention that the timing belt is kinda ripped... but 90% of it is intact... i checked it this passed sunday, and it was fine....

PLEASE HELP!!!

Sounds balance shaft related. You may have threw a blanace shaft bearing, and that is your clanking. That would also case your balance shaft belt to probably break and rip up your timing belt.

Either take off the timing cover and check out in there, or drop your oil pan and look for metal.

sounds like you have the same problem I have. (check my post, "wierd noise - possible oil pump?"). Mine can be fixed by removing the balance shafts, if only the dealership who currently has her in peices would do it. Check the oil for metal. try removing the balance shaft belt and get the kit before it really shreds things up. I get a bad noise revving and when I dropped my car off at the dealership, I got a weird clank too... It was a loose balance shaft sprocket and thank God it didn't get to my T-belt.
