Straight E85 and injector sizing help

Ok guys, I'm a little out of the loop when it comes to appropriately sizing my injectors here.

I will be running STRAIGHT E85.

STOCK 7 bolt in EXCELLANT shape, DSM link w/wideband set-up,GM MAF/translator/blowthrough, cutom FMIC and piping, JMF intake manifold, BC 272 cams, DNP manifold, TD06 20g,

The injectors are really my only question area........... I have a set of 1000's here. The rest of my fueling is taken care of. I have plenty of pump , lines, rail, AFPR, etc.

Will the 1000's be enough for my needs running the straight E85 ? I will be running the 20g at its limits.

I want to keep IDC's in the 80-85% range.................... NO MORE !

Am I better :

1. running the 1000's

2. picking up some FIC 1150's for a little more headroom

3. getting some 1600's and not worrying about anything other then some low end driveability issues which can be worked out. I just don't want to be getting 1600's and ABSOLUTELY not need them. It's not worth it for me to go through the lowend tuning issues, etc.

Please reply with an explanation for your answer.

What is your pump setup specifically? The injectors aren't going to be as much of a worry. If you're running a single walbro 255, then you need to upgrade.

1000cc's should be okay on a 20g for e85. They will support 55lbs/min at 100% IDC, or 45lbs/min at 80% IDC

Pump set-up is a twin intank Walbro 255 HP set-up feeding a -8 line from the tank to the rail.

Then you should be set with what you have. I would save, and invest in the new FIC 1600's that are coming out when you have the free cash. They have supposedly fixed the idle issue.

if you want leeway, get some 1200's. But the new 1600's are going to be your best bet.

No problem Boosted, totally understandable.

Only reason I don't have Link yet is because my car isn't even close to running. It probably won't be finished until early Spring. As you can see, I'm still in the process of sorting some minor issues out. Actually, the only things I really need to purchase is Link and the injectors. I have everything else.

I just didn't see any reason to buy Link now to have it sit around for another 6-7 months. I don't drive my car in the winter months.

I do appreciate your help so far.

I will try to give FIC a call. Maybe they would be able to help me out a bit further with some info on the NEW 1600's.

I'm now on board with DSMLink. I figured what the hell..................... I got to get it no matter what anyway. Why wait.

I'm still on the fence if I will be able to get away with the 1000's . I think I can, but it may be a little close. Like I said I don't want to go over 85% IDC's.

Maybe a set of 1150's or 1200's would suit me better like you said. At least I KNOW I will have some extra leeway.

I'd feel a little rediculous running the 1600's though with my mods. I mean I know they would be plenty on one hand, But then on the other hand I also know I don't need 1600's if that makes any sense.

I would go with 1200's. They cost about the same and will run just like the 1000's. Might as well be safe.

After reading this, I'm going to have to get 1600cc injectors when I switch to e85. At 23-24psi on 93 pump I'm flowing 49.9lbs per min.
