Stock time runs?

I beleive thats for N/A applications. The fact that the air is being forced in, elevation wouldn't be relevant to air density caused by lack of pressure. Since the air is pressurized, air density properties change anyway. Now if a Forced induced car has a faulty boost selenoid, then it may not run full boost. But 14 psi is 14 psi at any elevation. The stock boost selenoid should have compenstated for that. Now for a N/A car thats easily understandable, since the air has to be sucked in, the rate of air intake is lower due to the fact that there is less molcules of the atmosphere (Oxygen, Helium, Hydrogen, ect) to be sucked in, and it has suck in harder to get the same amount air.

It will make a difference though. It will be the same amount of pressure, but the air is denser at lower elevations so the VOLUME of air will be greater. Denser air means more volume per cubic foot of space and it doesn't matter if it's compressed or not. A car will not run at 25k feet because the volume of oxygen molecules is almost non-existent.

By your definition an engine should make the same amount of hp at 14psi of boost no matter what, and we all know that is not true.

Quicker is correct on this. Take it from a guy who has family in Colorado and decided to "attempt" and afternoon jog there. In Colorado I'm breathing the same amount of air as I do in Florida and I'm moving at the same pace as I would here. Also, my breathing rate didn't change in any way and my lungs still took in the same amount of air. But you know what?

In Florida I can run a 7 minute mile. In Denver I'd consider myself lucky to pull a 9 minute one.:p

And the best I ever got stock was a 9.5 on horrible tires (hoping for 8.5's on the new ones :thumb: ) 1.91 60 footer was the best I ever got on the stock slipping 120k mile clutch. I can pull off consistant 1.86-1.94's right now but I'm hoping the stickier tires will let me launch a little higher and get 1.75ish.

The problem with comparing stock times is it can never work out on older cars. I have stock shocks but if I replaced them I can promise my MPH would pick up 3MPH or so in the 1/8th and I could still say "I'm stock." Or I could have 225/45/16's ZRs on a car and still get away calling it "stock" next to a set of 205/50/16 H-rated tires.

im makin my first run on Friday hopefully, only mods are K&N and a couple free mods, im hopin to break in the 14's.. im a 92 TSI AWD automatic *damn 13g*

I ran a [email protected] when i was stock, this was with shitty 2.1 60' times. Also it seems like everyone else stock is getting much better mph's than me. Do u think im losing some power somewhere?

id say its the clutch too. they may have also run different tires, maybe something with a little more grip. could also be the fuel they ran that day. 91 vs. 93 octane can make a difference. the temperture. a thousand things can effect the cars performance in the 1/4. as long as your e.t.s is fairly consistant with everyone elses i'd say your fine.

im kinda happy (slightly disappointed) but cant complain, my car was running puurrrfect.. nice 60 degree day Mods: k&N filter, BCS resctrictor removal, and removed the silencer (also left foglight to clear path for IC) FULL street weight (including spare and jack) This is my first time at the track :

1st run:
crappy r/t .914, crappy 60' 2.229, 1/8th in 9.928 (@68.91), 1/4 in 15.650 (@82.5) - beat some 5.0 who either couldnt drive and gave up or broke something (ran a 22.314 :) )

2nd run:
.761, 2.029, 9.639 (@70.12), 15.256 (@87.57)

3rd (best):
.549 ( :) ), 2.015, 9.631 (@70.04), 15.250 (@87.62)

overall about what i expected, but not what id hoped... I think with a MBC, couple psi, 14's will be reached.. then ONTO THE 12's :)

(also saw a nt 1g run an 18 flat :-( with lots of stickers and altezza lights)

Yea a couple weeks after that run my clutch went, so im waiting to get my act 2600 in now.

Good info, but you should be able to hit 14's stock. It takes practice but its not that hard.

it wouldnt be hard, if i wasnt auto.. but i think if i had launched harder, maybe a 15.1, but i dont think 14's, cuz my car was running as good as possible, and theres no driver skill involved except for the launch..

To day was my first time ever at a real drag strip. I have only street raced before today. I got to go down five times. Here are my times in the order I got them

15.527 @ 92.12mph
15.389 @ 89.22mph
15.906 @ 92.68mph
15.803 @ 88.60mph
15.276 @ 89.98mph

I did all that in a factory 1990 turbo laser fwd. Actually I have hacked my aircan and for some reason am only running 10psi (I bought a cheap boost controller)

1991 Talon AWD
16psi
intake
3 inch exhaust
TurboXS dual stage boost controller
HSK bov

9.24 @76 in 1/8 mile (There's no 1/4 mile tracks aroung here)
