Stock Snorkel v. Hard pipe

A hard pipe can help improve flow a little bit, but I wouldn't spend $200+ for an Injen (or anything similar). Most eBay intakes will do fine, provided you buy a quality filter (K&N). "A pipe's a pipe afterall."

Check out this tech article for the cheapest approach.

Dejon also sells a similar product (CIP-2gB) for $35 (probably $9 shipping, too).

Note that you have to cut your stock intake pipe and use the MAS end of it with the Dejon pipe and both ends of it for the do-it-yourself pipe.

I've seen the DIY style on ebay, too.

Another improvement is to cut the BOV recirc pipe that dumps back into the MAS end of the snorkel from the upper intercooler pipe. It sticks WAY into the intake pipe and blocks a good bit of air flow (loosen the hose clamp between the snorkel and the MAS, pull it off a bit, and peek inside with a flashlight). I'd research this hack on the forum (I don't have time to search for a link right now) before you do it though. The Dejon unit doesn't have the tube in the way.

My Dejon unit is in the mail :)

I hacked the stock snorkel and added a section of pipe. It was about 10.00 bucks total. I really wouldn't be able to tell you how much performance it added but the turbo sound was a bit more noticeable. I found a a used Injen set up and bought it for 50 bucks. My hacked snorkel set up is sitting in my desk drawer collecting dust. Try searching for a used injen set up. Looks and flows better than a hacked job.

later.

I have a stock snorkel right now, but what is the big difference like with an Injen intake. Is it for looks or really improve performance. If so how much?:talon:
Buy a cheap e-bay intake piping. I think I bought mine for $12 and it works great. I had to open up a part of it a little more with a Dremmel, but other than that it works great.
