Stock Rims Bent (Need Some Advise)

Ok so i found out that i have a hole in my tires yesturday. I thout to myself i wll fix it in the morning. So i wake up the next morning w/my front right tire flet (as expected) the only problem is when i was about to pum it looks like the rim was bent ?? WTF i didn't drive the car or anything it was bented like spliting to two siedes. thats the second rim this month. :mad:

I have an 97 gst with 5 spoke aluminume wheels. is that possible to bent a wheel by not even driving it?

Where can i find 4 Stock OEM wheels?
 
Did the aluminum crack? If not, is it fixable?? (ei... bending it back) We manufacture a rim straightener used to get the bends out of wheels used on circle track cars. The wheels should not bend from sitting overnight w/ a flat.... Can you take a picture?? Then best place to find 4 OEM wheels is eBay..... or here on the classifieds. They aren't cheap either. Expect to pay at least $250-$300.
 
The wheel didn't crack but it slightly bented i will take a pic today and post it. the problem is i didn't jump any curbs or drove when the wheel had no pressure. Thats what makes me all confused. how can u bent a rim if the car wasn't driven
 
I'm thinking it was bent already. Does anyone else drive your car? Are you sure you didn't hit a pot hole or a rough spot before? It wouldn't happen just sitting there. You should be able to get it fixed though. I can't think of a place off the top of my head, but they are out there.
 
Its not the 17 inch stock rim is it? There have even been newspaper articles on how easy those things bend and the crashes they caused in 97-2002 eclipses.

Bent rims, this is very well known issue among second and third generation Eclipse owners. Please see our Links to read more about it. Some 2000+ Eclipses came with so called GSX style rims that bend and crack so easily that you don't even have to hit them much, or even damage your tire before the rim bends. Please see attached picture for a typical example of classic 10 spoke GSX rim all bent up, but the original tire is in good shape.
# Many people complained to Mitsubishi and tried to get those rims replaced under warranty, but very few got lucky. Most of the time the answer is, �it is your fault�. If you follow my links you will see that many Eclipse owners are participating in class action law suit to get this issue resolved: http://www.eclipseforums.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=163. Yep I have 97 GST stock rims. even tho they never craced but they bent and now making funny noice. Dos any one know where i can fix rims for cheap? somwhere in IL

We sell a rim straightener wrench that should work. They are only $30. PM me if you are interested.

How does that straightener work, is it going to straighten out just a basic bent rim or will it do better than that.
 
i paid for a new stock rim 230 and i am still kicking myself in the @$@%$@% @$$. I just bought a new set of rims on ebay for 450 with free shipping and tax !!!!

Yeah, basically, it's a wrench that is designed to bend lips back. It's designed for and used on circle track wheels like Aero, Bart, and Bassett. Sorry, I dont have a picture.

That looks like a cartoon wrench. Does it only work on cartoon wheels? LOL!

None of which are cast, right? Put another way: is that tool really meant to bend back the lip on the wheels that the thread-starter has?

If the rims need replaced just get aftermarkets off Ebay. Stock wheels are expensive, I just bought a set of 17x7.5 ats comp lites for $380. Used wheel shop wants $140 a wheel for my stock ones. OMG

Yes, good point. Circle track wheels are tipically roll formed and spun formed steel - not cast.

Well, it's intended purpose is not to be used on a cast wheel. But I do feel confident that as long as the bend/dent is minor and there is no sign of cracking, this tool will work even on a cast wheel.
