I`m installing my aeromotive fpr today.....Got it done just need to run my return line---I`m dumping return into the filler tube with tap.....My question is on my 1996 420a my stock frp is in the back by the filter, Now how do i remove that thing.....Do i just plug the vac line or do i have to jb waterweld a part of it.....
I`v searched but can only find info for the 95 or a neon, so help would be greatful...Thanks:dsm:
 
You don't disable it, you remove it. Of course, you also have to run a return line from the engine bay to work with that new AFPR you have.
 
so you got a detailed removel of this thing....Plug vac line then what
and ya, my return line is going to run to my filler tube....
 
Kind of like this, only the return line is fed from the test port on the fuel rail since you have a 96+ car:

I understand that... I mean the stock fpr....It has a total of three line that go to it....A vac line which I cap...Then a supply line and a return line... and its located rite next to the fuel filter....Do I just fill the return side of the stock fpr with jb waterweld or what.....
 
with my stock fpr inplace still I believe it lokks something like this correct.... now what do i do to remove the stock fpr

No... as I've been trying to demonstrate to you, the stock FPR needs to be removed with an aftermarket AFPR (an FMU is the only exception).
 
Just take it off and put in a bolt that plugs the hole, that's it, just make sure the bolt doesn't impede the flow of fuel. The rubber fuel line coming off it going back to the top of the tank (which you'll see when you remove the back seat, is being replaced by your return line. As far as the vac line, I don't recall a vac line going to the stock fpr

Hahn racecraft's instructions say to remove the FPR from the system and plug the hole, this can be done with a standard bolt that fits in the hole; be sure to wrap the threads with teflon tape. this utilizes the stock hard return line for use for your current setup.

that is what i needed thank you. And I understand the stock needs to be removed just wanted to know how and now i do thanks

Corrected :thumb: The late model fuel system doesn't have a stock return line
 
I have a 96 rs so the return line is in the rear and only a few inches long, so i knew you ment supply.....once again i want to thank you for the help......:dsm:
 
There are two different types of rails I think 95 and then everything else. Did they both have a return or did early 2gnt's not have returns at all? I'm only asking cause what if you just blocked off the return all together would the stock fpr not do it's job?
 
Both had return lines in the strictest sense of the term. Early style fuel systems returned from the fuel rail, while late style fuel systems returned from the FPR.

Old style rail on a new style car... well, if you had an old style rail that would imply that you've installed an extended return line from the rail to the tank. You could eliminate either FPR, but it would be easier to remove the one near the tank.

I have a rail with the fpr built into the rail and a nipple on the same side as the feed which I assume is the 95 style from reading your other post. My car is a 97 though and the old rail had no return hook up on the rail it was most likely where it is in your picture but I never saw cause I never looked so I assumed it just didn't have a return. Now I have to take off one of these fpr because it's probably making the fuel pressure too high and maybe part of my no start problem and I just wanted to see what the best way to delete a fpr and block off that nipple was.
