Everyone has different opinions about their E3B16g 34mm flappers, so it's hard to settle the ongoing dispute...IMO, creep is almost inevitable once you get the evoIII anyway
Everyone has their opinion on 34mm vs stock... Just like everyone has their opinion of when the head's going to lift. Mine? I really don't think it's going to lift untill I hit massive knock @ those boost levels. How did I come to get this opinion? A well known tuner in my area named Shane (Ecoli on the boards.) This is a quote directly from him when I asked him about it.
Shane said:stock 1G head bolts have been known to handle well over 30psi, so it isn't surprising that 2G head bolts can take 27psi. I ran 26ish psi on my girlfriends car with stock 7-bolt head studs. There really isn't a specific boost pressure that you can say is safe or not safe for the stock head bolts. Cylinder pressure makes horsepower/torque and cylinder pressure lifts heads. So a car making 400whp at 10psi and another at 30psi, might have the same likelyhood of lifting the head, since they both should be making similar cylinder pressure to generate that power. Detonation causes incredile spikes in cylinder pressure, which blows headgaskets and lifts heads regardless of HP/boost/airflow.
