Stock Exhaust Manifold Cover... (Heat Shield)

All 2G's come with a cover for the exhaust manifold. Should I keep mine on or take it off? Does it have any value performance-wise? Does it help cooling/heat control issues with the manifold?... If that is the case, I would rather just take it off and replace it with thermal wrap. What do you think?
 
So let me get this straight. You want to take OFF the OEM heat sheild and put ON an aftermarket one? You know you can get a new OEM one right?

Leave it on, there is the possibility of melting stuff... higher engine bay temps... protects crap from hitting the manifold and catching fire.. the list goes on.

The header wrap you are talking about... not going to work with a manifold like that. Tubular, yes; cast, no. Plus that's some ugly crap to but in the bay.

Aerocomp racing DSM, looks like they use the heat wrap on thier exhaust manifold.
