Stock Chrome GSX Rims

I have had my GSX for over 5 years now and I have always wondered if anyone else had stock 17" GSX rims that came from the factory chrome. I have seen plenty of 2G's roaming around my neck of the woods and around other DSM forums but I have never seen anyone else with the Chrome GSX rims. I was wondering if I have some special addition rims or something. Mine came from the factory chrome. Here is a picture that I just took of it in the dark. Alittle dirty.

Did you buy the car brand new?
Otherwise I'd say they've been chrome-dipped by a previous owner, as I've seen about 894094309 variants of oem rims and have *never* seen chrome gsx rims.

Luckily, I only live an hour away from you and can steal...er...check the authenticity of the rims.

My 2g also came with factory 16" chrome rims. Although mines are different than those. I have a 99 GST.

It's kind of a bad pic but from it they don't look like 2G GSX wheels. They look more like 3G GT wheels which did come in chrome. Are they 2 piece? Take a closeup pic of where the spokes meet the lip and we'll be able to tell for certain if they are infact the 2 piece GSX wheels or the 1 piece GT wheels.

those are 2g gsx wheels for sure, and no, ive never seen the chrome wheels...that is crazy...can we see a pic of them on the car, showing the whole car?

edit: just looked in profile, very nice, i like that look. for some reason i dont see many silver 2g gsx's

kind of the same subject, i got a 98gst with the gst wheels, but mine are chrome also. i've not seen many of them before. were they an "upgrade" or what? anybody know? most the ones i see are a brushed dull aluminum looking wheel, mine are bright shiny chrome.

Now from the new pic I can see that they are infact the 2 piece GSX wheels. I've never seen them in chrome before, either it's a rare option or someone had them dipped. And about the 16" 5 spoke wheels, alot of GST's came polished instead of the silver, nothing amazing about that, sorry.

i've seen it once.... out here in CA, same set of wheels. I don't know if it were factory chrome though....

I have seen it before back in NJ. This neighbor bought her 99 GSX brand new and she said it was a DEALER option (not manufactor). They asked her is she wanted her wheels chromed, she said yes and they just bought it to a local chroming shop and one day they pulled up in a van, rang her door bell talked to her for a sec, and changed the stocker silver with the chromes right there in her parking space, and that was that.

Yes, I would say it is a dealer installed option. A tactic they use to jack up the price of a new car.

When I bought my 98 GSX, the brochure never listed it as an option. The only ones that came in chrome are the 16" GST wheels.

It must be a custom job, even the centercap is painted. Looks cool!

An old lady with a GSX. Can't be thaaat old right? Looks real good though. Ive seen another eclipse on here with Chrome GSX wheels, It was burgundy.

Take out the paint in the center caps. Looks so much better once you get use to it

The wheels are pigs, 22 lbs a piece for the stock 2 piece wheels from the 97-99 GSX. They are sized 17x6.5. If you're looking for a light wheel, these aren't them. They do look good but I prefer my 13.5 lb Rotas.

The chromed 16" wheels came standard on front wheel drive turbo models for the 98-99 model year. The 17" were never available chromed from the factory.
