Stock Boost Gauge Detects Boost Leak?

ok when i first got my car my stock boost gauge was dead on that bottom line...now its always a little above...one day i blew a coupler off the turbo and the car ran horrible...got inside and the stock boost gauge was toward the middle(car was still running)my question is even tho the stock gauge is a P>O>S is it possible to tell if u have a boost leak by looking at it

it used to be this high at idle..now its a little lower

The stock boost gauge is just a boost gauge. It won't tell you if you have a boost leak. IF your vacuum on idle changed for whatever reason, it could be sitting a little higher/lower. If your peak boost is higher/lower for whatever reason, it'll just display it accordingly. But these things are wacko most of the time. Wanna know if you have a boost leak? Do a boost leak test, should do one periodically whether your boost gauge worked fine or not anyways.
