I am getting knock at high rpm and throttle. Ecm link is showing that i am not leaning and timing is not high when the knock starts. My knock sensor is squishy in the back and there is evidence that it has seeped black goo. I am still running the side mount intercooler. I also have to have the BOV not recirculated as the Bov port broke off so i need to get it recirculated again but i had the knock even while it was hooked up. so i just made a quick turbo intake out of ic piping to get me to work. Also i need to do a boost leak test but i did one not very long ago and there were no boost leaks. it is feeling like a bad knock sensor please any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have a wideband? If not I would get one. Going off the stock o2 sensor reading is not the best way to tune AFR's. Try pulling a degree of timing from the 5000 and 6000 rpms timing sliders and see if it lowers the knock at all.

i need to go ahead and get a new knock sensor too i know it has let out black goo and it is all squishy in the back and it may be in the wrong spot now that i read more into it. haha

Obviously you need to take care of your knock sensor issue first.

Also i have an odd jingle noise that comes from the trans area while in gear and out at higher rpms, but shifts perfectly fine and clutch engages fine, and it sounds like i have a super charger when i ride first gear up slowly? Or almost like im going in reverse real fast? just a side note. P.S.S Can insufficient intercooling cause knock? even while still on the rich side?

Thank you

A new knock sensor should definately help. I can't speculate on the ringing noise in the trans area unless I heard or experienced it.

Your question about insufficient intercooling is on the right track. Your stock SMIC can become heatsoaked after a short period of time and lose it's ability to cool the charge air coming out of the turbo, which could induce knocking as well. Depending on the boost pressure and the turbo you're using it can happen quicker than your think.

I was running 23 psi on 880cc injectors, big 16g, smic, stock IC piping, walbro 255, afpr, ecmlink v3. if that helps at all. i took my knock sensor out today and tried to clean it up may i wonder if engine degreeser hurts knock sensors?

Its just I can't buy a new knock sensor till friday. so i was just trying to do anything to help it read better? i put electrical tape on the back and around the top so as to maybe help dampen noises i am running low boost now so i know that any knock now would be PK but i still want to avoid any driveablility issues. but ya i cant wait to get another sensor. Oh and i was wondering how safe it would be to try to splice in a 2g Knock sensor as i hear they are more accurate?

Thank you,

so ya my knock sensor died completly now. as soon as i go over 3000 rpms over 30% throttle it pulls timing immediatly. 3k and 30% is where i have it set to begin looking for knock and so that is where is starts to notice my knock sensor is bad i would assume. also i finaly get a dtc for knock sensor 0031 in link. it says " 0031 Knock sensor 1 circuit malfunction". does that mean it could possibly be the harness too?

Get a new knock sensor. If it's throwing a DTC code, it's the sensor. If it was the harness, you wouldn't be getting any feedback from the sensor itself.

Stick with a 1g knock sensor. I don't think I've ever heard of a 1g owner using a 2g knock sensor, but if someone out there has, please feel free to correct me.

That makes sense,I have one at work staring me in the face but i dont get paid untill friday. But i am excited about being able to boost again. It is a 1g sensor as well. I was just curious about the DTC because it said circuit instead of sensor so i just wanted to be sure. will be killin stangs again in no time!! :hellyeah:

Thank you,

my maf, mafraw, airflow and injector lines flatten off when i get into the throttle and try to boost hard.
