everett,
Washington
So, decided to do something a little different. I have a ddin nav unit installed, but wanted to put my other headunit in my car because it sounds a lot better and gives me a lot more control over sound (Time alignment among other things).
Here's the progress I made today -
The vent area torn apart -
All grinded down, with grill cloth behind the vents so you can't see through.
Obviously had to hack the crap out of the vent ducting to get the deck to fit. I don't use the center vents - ever - so this isn't an issue for me.
Made a vent blockoff and siliconed it in -
Trim piece in place. The deck will be cage mounted, but also bolted in from behind so it won't be easy to steal.
Trim piece in place, need to go to a junkyard and source more buttons for realism.
With both the fake faceplates in place
Oh, and to answer some questions that are probably coming. The deck will not be mounted to the abs itself, rather the dash kit that is glued to the rear of the trim piece. In effect, it will be recess mounted. Also, I will be relocating the hazard, defrost & wiper switches else.
