Ok so when I accelerate my steering wheel shakes, just seemed to happen all of a sudden on my way back home.
It doesnt matter how fast I go, or what gear, if Im accelerating the steering wheel has the tendency to shake and feels like somebody is jerking the steering wheel to make the car go to the right.

It only seems to happen during acceleration. Doesnt matter how fast.
It wont happen if I'm just revving the engine in neutral while rolling or standing.

Any ideas?
So far Im thinking tranny mount maybe even engine mount?>

I have the same problem but not as bad, I would say check all rubber bushings for tears and play. Motor and front end.

Happened to me one time the cross-member that hold the steering rack split in half. Might not be that serious though. Get your front wheels balanced maybe aligned too.

Mounts could do it, plus are the axle boots all sealed with no loss of grease in them? Bad ball joints could do that also and even main front bearings.... - just some areas to poke into.

But, tires are the basic areas - out of round, lost a weight to make them go unbalanced, bent rim .. then warped rotors, sloppy suspension, et.al.

Make sure jack the front end up and check for play. Also check your tires to see if a belt slipped and is misaligned. This is usually easy to see with the wheel off the ground and running your hand around the tire.

Dude, the wheel jerks real hard and then lets go right? If thats it, I had the same problem. My cv axle boot looked good. But, the axle came out of the wheel well. Well I let it go and get worse b cause of lack of funds, but then it completely fell out of the wheel hub and it felt like a slipping clutch. Check your axles man. Probably what I am saying

Check your axles. I read a thread about this not too long ago and the dude found the problem in a broken CV joint on one of the axles. He had to remove the boot to even see it. I know it was bugging him for awhile and he couldnt figure it out either.

Check axles. I had this problem but only when letting out of it. Passenger axle had come out of trans.

The last car i had that the steering would pull to the right on ecceleration it was the right lower control arm bushing . The talon had the fast shaking wheel on acceleration, and it was a bad wheel bearing front drivers side. Found that out by the slight whine / wheel speed noise that changed when turning the wheel back and forth while coasting.35mph

Pretty sure that was me LOL

Turns out that one of my cv axles just snapped I think. Whatever happened it was near or inside the rubber boot where the cv axle meets the wheels.

Ugh.. I fix one thing and something else thats seems completely irrelevant comes up. On the bright side if I keep replacing parts at this rate Ill pretty much have a new car.

Anyone know if replacing the cv axles is a hard job

The only hard part is getting the castle nut off.....I reccomend air impact tools and a heat gun, pb blaster, and an assload of patience...

A little play is ok but axels are pretty straight forward. I did mine in about a halh hour to fourty five minutes.

hmm well im up for the task.
Anyone have any luck with duralast, napa, ultra 8?

Also I seem to be confused as well.
Its on the passenger side, so what side does that make it?
And its an AWD No ABS so is there a part number I should look for specifically?

alright any tips on removing this thing?
The axle sorta came out. slid out actually. however only the bearings came out on the tranny side, So I still have the spindel and everything still going into the tranny. how should I pop it out? or what kind of tools?

EDIT I Got it out. YAY.
Anyways anyone know whats leaking out of it?
As soon as I pulled it out it started leaking some black liquid all aover the place, about a quart or 2 of it.
Im assuming its gear oil.
Is this normal?
Is there a seal I should replace?

I am pretty sure its just heavy duty automotive grease....and no, if you replaced the whole cv axle, then you should already have that black stuff in the boot. just be careful putting everything back on, you dont want to mess up the boot.

BTW, congrats on doing it yourself, I told you it wasnt that hard:D

Yeah there were only a few bolts, and the axle bolt wasnt that hard to get off either.

Anyways, sure? It was pouring out of the hole that you pull the axle out the tranny

Yes gear oil leaks when the axle is removed in a dsm it should have been drained first but its to late for that now. You will have to fill the trans back up after you drain the rest of the fluid out.

alright perfect, where do I refill this gear oil on the car?
Is there a bolt I have to take off under the hood to do it?

This should work for you

Drain all the old out using the drain plug, its on the bottom front almost all the way to the passenger side, Its a large plug and you have to use a socket, I believe its 22 or 24 mm.

To fill it up there is a 17mm plug on the front about mid ways up and it should say oil on the bolt.

Fill it up till the fluid runs out of the hole, around 2.3 quarts if the car is sitting level on the jackstands.

If you can find redline MT-90 that is what I use. Or you can go to advance and buy Coastal Synthetic 75w90 it seems to shift quite well in these cars.

While you are getting the oil get a piece of hose about a foot and a half long that fits the spout of the oil container.
