When does the steering column key switch light turn on? Installing a led but not sure how to test it.

Answered my own question. Comes on when you open your door and shuts off after a few seconds. I was installing it with my door open.

I know there's a timer that plugs into the dash harness that controls the length of time it stays on. Our Spyder has one of the shortest stay-on times of any DSM we've owned: a whopping 2.5 seconds. I am looking around for another timer to lengthen the stay-on time.

Mine doesn't stay on much longer. It's so funny, I knew the ignition light worked but I had my door open in order to get more light while I was working. After I got the new bulb in I started thinking, when does this come on. I never paid attention in the past. Sometimes you just feel like an idiot.
