Steering column cover

So I got around to undoing all the nasty paint the previous owner did on the interior of my 95 eclipse gs and when i undid the tape and took off the steering column cover, the column dropped down about 4 inches. Is there some bracket that maybe wouldnt be tight that would cause the column to drop like that? As far as I know I dont have tilt wheel so it should just stay put.

Are you sure? Look underneath the column for a lever.

You probably do have tilt. There should be a black lever. Im surprised you don't hit your knee on it when you get in and out of the car.

if the tilt doesnt want to tighten up by hand then there is a bolt you need to find where it swivels. if not maybe they didnt get all the bolts in if its been torn apart.

Ya it was all messed up. Got the thing tightened up and the lever fixed. Thanks!
