the steel coolant line that goes to my turbo is leaking....its the back one (behind the turbo) i was wonder what im about to be getting myself into. i just got my car home and i have not even tried to tear into yet.... a couple of my friends say that it could be the copper washers. i was just wondering anyones input on how to go about fixing this and what else it might be thanks for the input :talon:

It could be the washers sure, it seems weird that it would start leaking all of a sudden. Is the banjo bolt tight on there? Are you sure it's leaking by the washers and the line isn't cracked somewhere?

If it is the original line it definitely could be cracked or rusted out.

If it is definatly coming fro the back its very easy...either the banjo bolt came loose. Or you do need new copper crush washers that you could easily pick up from any auto parts store.Just bring the old ones with you so you make sure thier right and dont have to take 2 trips..i hate when that happens

don't over tighten the banjo bolts, or it will still leak. also use a soft wire brush to clean the surfaces of the copper washers.

The banjo bolts work with the copper crush washers. You need to tighten it quite a bit, but not over tighten and strip it.

I have a feeling it is the rubber hose that is leaking. I just got done dealing with some leaks around that area. If the area hasn't been messed with in a while, I just don't see how a banjo bolt with crush washers leak all of a sudden. The rubber hose leaking just seems more plausible.

quick question if i put coolant in the motor it just starts pouring out like a hose....that leads me to believe that its not the washers but it almost has to be the rubber hose correct??

sorry to bring this thread up again but i found out where im leaking coolant from.... its from the main water pipe in front of the motor...how it cracked or whatever it did i dont know, but long story short i cant get the whole pipe out as the car sits right now. i really dont want to have to pull the turbo since the person before me welded the waste gate to the turbo....(again why, i dont know) but are there any tricks to getting this out with the turbo still on or should i just take it off and call it a day?
