I drove two cars without AC before having a car that had it. I will never own a car without AC again. When it's 100 outside and you've got sweat patches building the weight and minor gas savings of not having AC are just not worth. I would look on with envy at people with their cool AC blowing while I sat uncomfortable with even the wind being hot so that there was no relief.

LOL I remember pulling my A/C and driving from San Jose to the strip in Sacramento for the first time - not fun! And there was plenty of traffic too. I didn't even care that I was dripping sweat the whole way, I was more concerned with my coolant temps. I had to pull over 3 times.

My best advice - drive at night as much as you can, maybe get a motel room the night before. Sometimes that isn't possible but I went out of my way to avoid driving to Sac in the middle of the day when I could.

Well don't inhale it ya know. It's no worse then the cigarrette you are probably already smoking.

It's actually much worst. Back in the day when "Air Duster" first came out me and my trouble making friends would inhale it. The same effect as N20/ Whip it's but turns out it's deadly.

A local kid here had a stroke and died a year or so back. Scary because I know i've inhaled plenty of that shit. Sometimes it amazes me i'm a live sometimes. Young, stupid and bored was a bad combo. Glad I found hobbies.

As far as A/C goes, toughen up ladies.

I know my 95 gsx with gray leather was hot every day when I was stuck in traffic for an hour or so every day. F-it. Being in a 100* car is better than being in a 10* car. :D

Gotta be from Cleveland to find joy in a 100* car stuck in traffic. LOL

ever notice the window scoops on nascar and some autox cars?

I saw a Black 2g GSX with race glass all the way around. He had the side windows carved out with hoses that brought the air into the cab into the back of the seat.

the car looked serious as hell.

Get one of those windshield sun visors if you don't already have one.

Yes, window tint does help cool you down. While it doesn't help the air inside your car cool down, it stops radiant heat from hitting you directly. So you're cooler. Helps if you have a sunroof & are missing the cover like mine :(

Don't leave your windows rolled all the way up..crack them. My gf kills me with this; even if it's 100 degrees out she still insists on leaving her car's windows rolled up (not even cracked) so nobody can break in :| She's paranoid.

Figure out a way to keep ice on the inside of your wrists. A piece of ice wrapped in a cloth (or armband?) could work.

If you're wearing a short sleeve shirt, get the sleeves wet..or soaking if you want. Then put the windows down & let the air hit them..Wet bandanna around your neck, wet towel on your back..whatever.

Course you could always buy one of those water bottles with the built in fan they sell at amusement parks.

Drink lots of cool water..nothing sugary!

When I first moved to MD (1999) we had a couple girls driving around inhaling Duster cans like you suggested. Of course they got high and lost control of their car.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they all died.

A good trick I like to do is, roll the passenger window down more than the driver window... or is it the other way around... who knows, it makes the air seem to circulate easier... instead of equal amounts of air just ramming into the car and hitting eachother.

Give me a break. There's no way I'm actually doing it at all like you suggested. If the windows are down and you need a quick refresher, it's not going to hurt for a spritz or two. No way. If you are literally trying to get high from it, then yeah, of course it's going to be very dangerous. Usually I just use the herbs for that though. ;)

It's usually back there(seat) so I can frost my I/C before some runs at the track.

Rolling the windows down is the most practical and convenient though. You always want to cool the back of your neck and wrists first. It's the first thing I do when I'm done some laps on the MX track. Feels pretty good.

I drove to the track a couple days ago when there was a heat wave. It got up to 102 degrees that day! I had two waterbottles in a cooler, and I stuffed both bottles with ice cubes and topped them off with plain water. The water stayed ice cold for about 3 hours. It sure was nice having an ice cold drink in the heat. :)

106° here yesterday and no A/C. If you want comfort then you should probably not be driving a dsm in the first place.

I feel ya', try sitting in Dallas traffic for 2 hours. It was so awfull yesterday, and people wonder why I am determained to find a 1st gen with a/c...

Mine works:D
