I left work i get into my car and BAM my starter is gone. I needed to push start the car. Can it be because my car is set up so it doesnt have to start by pressing the clutch?

Only if they jumpered the clutch pedal switch instead of disconnecting it. Remove starter relay and jumper one of it's black/red wires to it's black/yellow and you'll never have a starter relay problem again. But don't do this if you still want the theft alarm to disable the starter. :D
