I stepped on the gas and the linkage broke on my shifter and I miss 2nd hitting the rev limiter at 7500 rpms. I start to drive normally and it shakes backfire real loud, not exagerating from a buddy behind the car, about a 6ft flame out of the exhaust and then dies. Start it back up only gets up to about 50mph stuggling and shaking. Luckily it was a mile from my house. Right before i get to my house it dies. I start it back up, it backfires again with another huge flame and dies. One more try, same thing. Push it rest of way home.
I did a compression test 175 170 170 165 Timing marks are still good, no shaft play on compressor wheel. And just got it dyno tuned a few hours before the happening.
Also my rpm gauge is going everywhere spinning and going back and forth
And EGT was reading 500, yes it should be around 1200-1400 which it was when it was running correct
Not blowing any kind of smoke out of exhaust or engine bay, but did have a funky smell when I popped the hood
Maybe my coil pack?
Any ideas?
