Starting to mod... Crankwalk question!!!

To start of, I have a 98 TSi AWD (7 BOLT) w/ 64k miles and I'm just beginning to mod it. The car seems flawless and has absolutely NO SIGNS OF CRANKWALK. So here's the deal... One of the shops I went to, the guy is a huge believer of the Magnus crankwalk fix. He said he would rip out the block and fix the "squirter problem" for $500. I don't really even know if this is gonna fix the prolem, or if my car will definately crankwalk. I'm not really seeing the point of spending $500 on some sort of preventative maintenence.

(AND YES, I'VE DONE MORE THAN MY FAIR SHARE OF RESEARCH! I'VE READ THIS STUFF TILL I WAS BLUE IN THE FACE! )

So, should I...:

A. Pay the guy $500 and hope that he does the job right and I don't crankwalk?

B. Tell the guy I'd rather put $500 to something decent than spend it on a theory. If it does walk, which it might or might not... I haven't blown $500 and have that to put towards a new motor or to repair mine.

I like option B, and I'm not afraid of crankwalk (). Just a better excuse for a better motor. Please, all input is appreciated

dont pay that guy 500 dollars to rip apart a good engine and fix something that didnt break yet, thats stupid. you could buy a running 6 bolt engine for 500 bucks.

a) you have a NEWER 7-bolt motor, less of a chance of it crankwalking in the first place
b) crankwalk is SEVERELY overrated, I'm gonna puke because of all the crankwalk topics that excessively come up on this board. I bet maybe 1 in 30 get crankwalk on a 2G, even that sounds high. And I'll bet of the cases of crankwalk at least a good 20% misdiagnosed themselves and it was something else in the first place.
c) The Magnus Crankwalk Fix is only a theory, why tear the motor apart and "fix" something that is not broken...and what happens if the motor just doesn't run the same again after these modifications? Or he breaks something else in the process?

I'm with ParanoidTSi, to the T. If I was that shop guy, I'd be telling you that I'm a firm believe in the crankwalk fix theory and try to get your $500 too. Well, I guess not really, because I like to think of myself as an honest guy with decent ethical behavior.

BTW, I want your car. Last year of the Talon, low miles, not modded, AWD... where do I go to pick it up?
