So, I got my GST with a blown drivetrain. I replaced the motor and transmission and it ran great. I didn't replace the starter or alternator and after having the car running for a few weeks, the stock radiator started leaking. So, I replaced it with an all aluminum dual core from Mishimoto. After I got everything hooked back up, it wouldn't start and it turned out to be the starter, which I was expecting anyways. Now that I've replaced the starter, it still won't start, it turns over maybe one revolution and then it goes click click click click. Like the starter can't turn it over anymore or the computer is stopping it because something isn't right. I put a wrench on the crankshaft and it turns over just fine. I didn't disconnect anything but the battery and I quadruple checked the starter. It is the correct starter and it is obviously engaging the flywheel for a little bit at least. Any suggestions? I checked the plugs, they were replaced with the motor swap though and they probably have 75 miles on them, if that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah, the battery is dead but I've been jumping the car with another car that's running. Do you think that that is still not enough and that the battery needs to be fully charged regardless? I figured that I'd be able to jump it with another car...

Its probably junk.. How long has it been dead or how much have you been cranking on it while it was low. Could and most likely does have a dead cell which isnt letting it hold a charge. Maybe try the battery out of the other car to see if that works and if it does then you'll need a new battery.

But, if I have it hooked up to car with the good battery it shouldn't matter right? Especially if it's running with the alternator sending a charge. And, what if it doesn't start with the good battery? Could it be something besides the battery?

Sometimes if the Bat gets to low even a jump wont start it. Happened to my other car ( non-dsm) but all i had to do is take it to auto-zone, they recharged it and in 30 min i put it back in. Car started right up. If its bad, dont buy a new one from there. just go down to your junk yard, they have good ones for ALOT cheaper.

Try replacing your crank position sensor and cam position sensor, and of course check to see if you have a draw somewhere, good luck.

Neither one of those would have anything to do with the starter not turning the engine over.
