Starting Problems

So when I go to start the car it sounds as if it will start for a second but then stops and there is a loud whineing noise. If I push the gas all the way in then eventually it will start, otherwise it takes a few tries. I'm pretty sure the starter is just bad but I didn't see anyother posts with these symptoms so I wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Doesnt really sound like the starter if its turning over properly.
Look at your fuel filter,injectors,fuel pump your entire fuel system.
Whats your air filter looking like?
Take a peak at your plugs and wires

Well I just pulled the fuel injectors and rail and checked all of that. I also checked the pump just the other day. See it had been doing this for a while but in moderation also it seemed only to do it when it was already hot (i.e. if i shut it down and then started it less than an hour later).

I just fixed a probe gt that had the same symptoms, it turned out to be that the nuts that holds the distributor on had loosened over time and moved the ignition timing. I know it sound weird but thats what happened and i timed it again and it woks fine. So maybe your C.A.S. is loose,maybe.

I just had to replace the CAS and I double checked that. Besides like I said it was doing it a bit before. I went to start it up today after sitting for like 24 hours and there was a bit of delay on the ignition but it started fine other than that. But now its not starting right away again.

during the whining noise do you know if the motor is turning over?

i had a similar problem b4 the starter would jus make a whining noise until it makes contact with the flywheel to turn the motor, specially after it has been running for a while. in the morning it didnt do it that much. I got my starter rebuilt and it fixed the problem
