I am trying to replace the starter relay on a 1999 Eclipse Spyder GS because I am experiencing intermittent starting with the commonly reported clicking noise coming from the starter relay area. The clicking comes from under the climate control segment of dashboard above the center console.

I was able to locate this cluster as shown in the pic http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i17/paulvolk/pix2314.jpg under the radio.

When I unplug the wire connector, the relay seems to be affixed to the frame. How exactly do I remove it to replace it and will this part (Starter Relay Standard RY-689 ) work?

TIA!

It's held on by a 10mm bolt. Just remove the side panel to access the bolt head.

Thank you! I had limited visual from only removing the radio in the center. Removing the passenger side panel will give me the room and access I need, as you describe.

One more thing, my (bad) starter relay (which was buzzing every time I turned the ignition key resulting in "hit or miss" car starting), was discovered to be the relay on the left of the two, and *not* the one on the right according to the 2G manual here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/attachments/2010-09-11_231553_relay-jpg.243001/

Thanks again spyderdrifter!!
