Started it yesterday. I used a fixture to locate everything based off of a stock O2 so it bolts up like factory. An external WG is going where the recirc tube would be.

This is made from REAL stainless, not like those cheap ebay ones that rust and crack.

Damn that's good welding right there. Looks awesome man.

Looks good man! You should start making them with external wastegate, open dump and recirculated. The company's that do make them have them priced so high it is laughable. Other guys sell some on ebay for 50-80 dollars that is only made for internal. I have bolted one on before and it worked fine, but I wanted to go with external off of the wastegate. Just would never pay over 150 for an o2 housing.

I too am interested in price of an external dumped 38mm wastegate O2 housing. As much as I like PR, I can't see how an O2 housing can cost the same as an exhaust.

You guys are complaing about the price of an o2 housing only because you don't know how much work goes it making a quality one. The price of stainless is always going up. I could go on and on about it. But the simple fact is that people that complain about the price are the same people that are killing companys from making quality parts for our cars.

Or maybe because if a stainless steel exhaust which is 5 feet long with resonators and mufflers cost $420.00 or so for a quality one than how can a 8 inch length piece cost $340.00. I have no problem paying for quality, but I do have a problem being ripped off. I would gladly pay $225 to $250.00 for one of these.

Thats why I welded a wastegate flange to my manifold instead. I never threatened any company with a bomb, forcing them to lower the price or else. LOL I just found other means to make my external wastegate work for my needs. I would never pay that much for an o2 housing. Thats why I... myself.... found a way to make my setup work for my needs. If companies can sell them for 300-400 dollars then more power to them. Until I find one for a price that I am comfortable with, then I will stay with what I have. I am one person. I am sure that me not spending my 300 dollars will not make a company go under.

3" stainless weld elbow for $42

304SS DSM EVO3 O2 housing/ Downpipe flange - eBay, $35

SS o2 housing flange for $20 shipped

tial 38mm flange for $26

So, that is $123 worth of stuff, at retail prices. Most big shops could get these cut for less $ from someone with a burn table or waterjet. Granted, you will have a little more pipe to go from flange to wastegate flange, and then the dump for the wastegate.

Also, you will have the labor to stick it together. Still, once you build a jig, how hard could it really be? I just don't see a 3x markup being justified for the labor costs.

^^^ Thank you sir.... ,and you know that the companies that make them probably have very little in cost of materials. Not even close to full cost that you would pay for each individual flange.

For me to make them and sell them they would have to go for $250. This is what the o2 housing is made from.
Stainless Steel Donuts at The Chassis Shop

It is a very time consuming process. I used to make these all the time when I worked in Maryland. The way I'm making this one, it will be for an external WG. You also have to factor in the Argon, wire, and electric. I am not a big shop, so I'm probably a little more picky when it comes to quality and fitment. I am keeping this the raw stainless look.

Looks alright. I hoped you put it in a fixture to weld it or it's going to be warped. I would speed up on laying the bead.

Yes it was all welded while in the fixture. It is a new fixture, so I still need to modify it so I can get into some spots a little easier. Its been a while since I've welded stainless, I'm a little rusty. I've been welding aluminum all day, every day of the week for about a year now.

Ohh.. yours look great, and I was never questioning that it was worth SOME money.. And 200-250 seems perfectly reasonable. I just never understood the 300-400 range that some were asking. Its in my nature to question, though.

When I was building my GSX, I always tried to go the cheapest route possible. I try to price stuff as cheap as I can and still make it worth the time. The shop I was at always marked shit up as much as 6x what it cost them.

I never came in here saying that 300+ is what these o2 housings are worth. But at the same time people rather buy the ebay special for 60 bucks then spend 200-250 for a quality one. The ebay one's are all mig welded then they are gone over with the tig in a pulse to give it the tig welded look. And also a 1/2" thick 304 flange is a lot more then the one's posted.

Would you consider making some more of these?
I know you gave a price but I was wondering if you were going to follow through with that if some of us were interested?

:thumb: I agree.

Yeah, I can make them. The price would depend on what you want. A recirculated o2 would be $240. External gate would be more.

How much more are we talking.

External gate and atmospheric dump would be $300

i forsee a group buy in the near future? if so, i need a o2 housing recirculated for a tial 38mm :D
unless you jsut took the EWG right out of the wastegate opening then just weld a flange on the dp if possible to cut out the extra piping needed? just a idea.
